This innovative 4-day intensive training program is delivered by leading experts in archival monetary appraisal and is designed to leverage your extensive archival and heritage expertise by providing you with the policies and practices required to undertake both NAAB and independent archival monetary appraisals.

To REGISTER in the Masterclass you should be a seasoned mid to late career or retired archivist, librarian, museum curator or other heritage professional and meet the minimum requirements outlined below:

1. Become a member in good standing with NAAB (Associate fee is included in registration fee).

2. Complete the Registration Application Form below and agree to adhere to the Practising NAAB Appraiser Standards of Ethical Conduct and Professional Responsibility.

3. Submit a detailed CV (below) that demonstrates the appropriate minimum educational and experience requirements:

• An undergraduate degree from a recognized university and five (5) years of experience working in an archival institution or related field.

OR

• Successfully completed two (2) years of post secondary education in a discipline relevant to culture and heritage, and seven (7) years of relevant experience

OR

• Exceptional educational and professional circumstances may also be considered

4. Receive official approval of registration by NAAB. Note: Registration will be limited and preference will be given to those with archival experience (processing records).

Payment of registration fee and submission of Registration Application Form does not mean automatic acceptance to the Masterclass. Official approval of registration will be provided by NAAB upon review of the submitted CV.

A FULL participant pursuing the PNA designation and completing the necessary professional examination/assessment requirements. Registration Fee is $1,950*An AUDITING participant, attending the classes but not pursuing the PNA designation. You will not be permitted to submit the final assignment for grading and you will not qualify for the PNA designation and benefits, at this time. Auditing participants must still meet the registration requirements for this program, as outlined at the top of this page. Registration Fee is $1,685*
* Note: Registration fees include a one year NAAB Associate fee ($125), eligibility assessment for Masterclass, a four day intensive monetary appraisal program, learning materials, access to the online Masterclass portal with monetary appraisal tools and relevant readings, coffee breaks, and lunch each day.

An additional PNA Fee of $175 will be payable AFTER THE MASTERCLASS for participants that successfully complete the summative assignment (monetary appraisal and report) for the Masterclass.

As noted above, a credit of $125, for the NAAB Associate fee included in each Masterclass registration, and it will be applied against the $300 Annual PNA membership fee. The $175 balance will be payable within 30 days of notification to a participant that they have successfully completed the summative assignment and they are therefore eligible to receive the Practising NAAB Appraiser (PNA) credential and associated benefits, including but not limited to use of the designation, access to the PNA membership portal, and free access to the Database of Archives' Values (DAV).

Good Health Declaration and Waivers

National Archival Appraisal Board (NAAB) and Canadian Council of Archives (CCA) commit themselves to complying with the requirements and recommendations of National, Provincial and local Public health and other governmental authorities, and to put in place and adopt all necessary measures to that effect. However, NAAB, CCA and the venue cannot guarantee that you will not become infected with COVID-19 or other contagion(s) through your onsite participation in the Masterclass. Further, attending the Masterclass could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19 or other contagions, despite all preventative measures put in place.

By submitting my registration application, I declare that I am participating voluntarily in the Masterclass. I am aware that participating onsite, or in-person for assessments or other activities that may be required, involves the potential for risks, dangers and hazards, including but not limited to: (a) Covid 19/other contagions; and, (b) injury to myself at, to or from the venue.

I declare that if I, or anyone in my household, have experienced in the last 48 hours prior to the date of the Masterclass or in-person assessment (if required) that I will be attending, COVID-19/other contagions symptoms (as identified by public health authorities), I will forfeit my seat (onsite) and will not attend the onsite Masterclass.

If I have tested positive or suspect infection for COVID-19 or other contagion(s); have been in close contact with a person who, to my knowledge, had symptoms of COVID-19/other contagions or has tested positive for COVID-19/other contagions, and have not yet been cleared to discontinue isolation in accordance with applicable criteria communicated by public health officials; or am currently subject to a quarantine or self-isolation order for any reason, including travel, I declare that I will not attend the Masterclass and I will request to be accommodated as an online/remote participant. If I switch to remote, I realize additional costs will be involved and my preferred session may not be available to me.

I agree without exception to abide by the requirements and recommendations of National, Provincial and local Public health and other governmental authorities and to those special safety regulations put in place by NAAB, CCA or the venue, as it pertains to COVID-19/other contagions or other health and safety risks and to adopt all necessary measures to those effects.

I agree that, by filling out and submitting this registration application, I will comply with the terms and conditions set out in it, I am giving up my legal rights to sue NAAB, CCA or the venue, and their respective officers and directors, in the event that I contracts COVID-19, other contagion(s) or become injured to any extent.

In consideration of my participation in the Masterclass and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, I hereby WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS against NAAB and CCA and the venue, their directors, agents, employees, executive members, volunteers and organizers of the Masterclass (the “Releasees”), which I now have, or hereafter may have against the Releasees. In particular, but without limiting the foregoing, I agree to release the Releasees from ANY AND ALL LIABILITY for any loss, damage, injury, death or expense I may incur as a result of my participation in or attendance at the Masterclass. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, INJURY OR EXPENSE, including legal costs, that the Releasees may incur due to my participation in or attendance at the Masterclass, whether caused by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, and whether caused to me otherwise.

I understand that the Releasees may photograph and otherwise record the Masterclass, onsite or remote/online, its participants and attendees. I consent to and authorize such photography or recording. I further consent to and authorize the Releasees to publish my image, likeness and information in any medium, including but not limited to photographs, videos, DVDs, and web-casts. I understand that this publication may take place in the public domain, including in printed materials, public announcements, and on the internet. I specifically consent to the public release of the following information: 1. Name; 2. City, Province, Country of Residence; 3. Location of Masterclass that I attended; 4. PNA status. This document is in addition to and does not replace all other the NAAB, CCA, venue or MASTERCLASS waivers. I acknowledge that by signing and submitting this registration application, electronically or otherwise, that I have read the waivers and declarations carefully and fully understand it, and agree to all of the above terms and conditions.

I understand that payment of the registration fee and submission of this Registration Application Form does not equal automatic acceptance to the Masterclass. Official approval of registration by NAAB will be provided upon review of the submitted CV.

Registration fee must be paid BEFORE an application for registration can be processed.

Registration fees from unaccepted registrations will be refunded, less the non-refundable Associate fee $125 and a $50 processing fee. Unsuccessful registrations retain their Associate status with NAAB and will be encouraged to continue professional development to become a Practising NAAB Appraiser (PNA).

I attest that I have read and agree to abide by the Practising NAAB Appraiser Code of Ethics and Personal Responsibility, by NAAB policies, and its bylaws. I also understand that misrepresentation of the facts on this application may constitute cause for termination of membership, association or affiliation with NAAB.
