I want to learn more about:
Adult Education
: Through year-long Hebrew classes, weekly Torah study, special lectures and presentations, book groups, film screenings, cooking courses, and more, WRT programming is a way to discover the power of Jewish learning, deepen your Jewish identity, and investigate milestone moments. Classes can be chosen on an individual basis or part of a multi-year, personalized curriculum.
Caring Volunteers
: Assist the clergy in providing outreach to those in the WRT community who could benefit from support in the form of caring letters, phone calls, meal delivery, assistance with life transitions, practical advice, and the simple blessing of loving presence.
Choirs - Adult, Teen, and Youth
: The melodic sounds of our WRT volunteer choirs enrich special events and selected Shabbat evening services. All enthusiastic singers are welcome to join one of our choral ensembles.
College Connection
: Volunteers keep college-age students connected to their Judaism and the WRT community, by providing Chanukah gift packages and Passover treats, sponsors reunions, and promoting correspondence and interaction with the clergy.
Cooking4HOPE
: Volunteers serve in many capacities including shoppers, bakers, cooks, packers, and drivers, providing food for participants of HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle, NY. It is a great opportunity for WRT families and individuals to help a neighbor in need.
Environmental Impact
: WRT is committed to being a leader in sustainability and green practices. Engagement opportunities include advocacy, education, and programming.
FreeBirds
: WRT members that are now “free birds” can engage with peers and explore common interests at WRT. Generally, FreeBirds are individuals whose youngest child is a junior in high school or older.
Greeters for Services
: At Shabbat and festival services, greeters help to create a warm and welcoming environment for members and guests, from guiding worshippers to their seats to supporting those requiring assistive listening devices and larger print prayer books.
Greeters for Daily Activities
: Throughout the week, greeters help to create a warm and welcoming environment for members and guests, from guiding students (of all ages) to their class locations, to simply offering a warm smile and hello to each person who is cleared for entry by our Security professionals.
Inclusion
: WRT strives to welcome and value the diversity of our members and to create a culture of respect, acceptance, and care so that everyone can be enriched by participation in our community.
Men of Reform Judaism
: MRJ is a fellowship of men who aspire to Tikkun Hanefesh (self improvement) and Tikkun Olam (Repair of the World). MRJ events range from fun outings to meaningful speakers/discussions to impactful community service.
Mitzvah Corps - ECC
: Organizes programming that ECC children, and their families, can learn from and contribute to, with the goal of teaching the next generation the Jewish values of tzedakah and tikkun olam. (Please only sign up here if you have a child that will attend the ECC during the 2022-2023 calendar year. Otherwise, please see Family Mitzvah Corps below.)
Mitzvah Corps - Family
: A community of families engaging in hands-on social action work together. Through monthly community service opportunities, parents and children of all ages have the opportunity to come together to interact with the broader world. (Please only sign up here if you have a child that is in kindergarten through 6th grade during the 2022-2023 calendar year.)
Monthly Mitzvah Corps
: Volunteers collect new and gently used items of need for individuals and groups in Westchester County. Volunteers help to spread the word about the monthly collection and arrange for the delivery to recipient organizations.
Racial Justice Working Group
: Is committed to examining the racial inequalities and working collectively to address racial injustice. This working group examines interpersonal attitudes and external social systems.
Refugee and Displaced Persons Support
: WRT understands that refugees and displaced persons deserve an opportunity to thrive in their new communities. Volunteer opportunities may include resettlement support, hands-on volunteer work, or legislative advocacy.
Women of Reform Judaism
: WRJ is deeply committed to spiritual and educational growth. Members plan and orchestrate a wide array of programs, events, study groups, and mitzvah opportunities throughout the year. WRJ is a great way to for women to meet and engage with other women at WRT.
