Chromadane puppy application Logo
  • Puppy Application

  • Psst...thanks for completing this application! At first glance, you might thing "sheesh, this is a little long - are all these questions really necessary?"  Our litters are very carefully planned & puppies are thoughtfully raised, so its very important to us to match each individual puppy with the right home.

Every family is different, and there are no right or wrong answers. We know many families have two working adults and we don't expect anyone to be a superhero and quit a day job just to be able to take home a puppy. Every puppy family has different needs, and this application helps us identify who needs what information and what homes might make the best fit. If you're a veteran Great Dane owner, we don't want to waste your time regaling things you already know; by the same token, if this is your first puppy or first Great Dane, we want to make sure you leave prepared for what life with a puppy may bring. So again, thank you!

    • Puppy Preference
    • The process of joining the Chromadane family is a little different than you might have experienced with other breeders.  Each of our litters is bred with careful consideration to the future of our breeding program, with an intention that there will be something that will be kept in the Chroma family and grown out to be shown & potentially bred.  Final puppy picks are not made until 7-8 weeks old, once we have evaluated temperament & aptitude (PAT testing) type & structure (breed potential).  This is especially true for our show marks/show potental puppies & performance potential puppies, but also goes for the companions.  While we certainly want to take into consideration your idea of what your dream puppy looks like, you are not going to be able to reserve a particular puppy by sex & color by deposit at a week old.

Because so many things can happen in the first month of life, we discourage people from becoming too attached to any one puppy.  You really dont know anything useful about them until they are up on their feet and interacting with people & each other and developing their indiviual personalities.  As that happens we can start to get an idea of which puppy might be available & a good fit for your home.

We do not accept deposits.  We do not ever want someone to take a puppy of ours because they feel financially obligated to do so.  We compile a list of potential puppy buyers during the time a litter is on the planning stages up until a litter is over 4 weeks old, and then at that stage we come up with a final list of those people who we will likely have a puppy for.  If we tell you that you are on the short list for a particular litter we will try our best to make sure you end up with a puppy you will be delighted with, and if for some reason we can't do that we will try to help you find another litter of ours, or from someone we trust.

We understand that this requires a good amount of patience and trust in us, and we appreciate the people who value what we do enough to hang in there through the process!

    • What to expect
    • Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Chromadane, but it does not guarantee you'll get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.

If this application is approved, you'll be contacted by phone to discuss upcoming litters, potentially available puppies and to get to know us better.

Puppies will go to their new homes at 8 weeks. We cannot hold puppies for extended times; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. Puppies must be picked up within 7 days unless other written arrangements are made.

We have a contract and will not place a puppy without a signed contract. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later. If you have questions about specific terms, you need to contact us prior to picking up your puppy.
