Please check the timetable below before registering to make sure that the times work, as we can not adjust the timetable. Note that Pre Advanced and Advanced Contemporary classes are twice a week it is advised and preferred that the dancers make both classes. **PLEASE MAKE SURE BEFORE REGISTERING THAT YOU KNOW WHAT CLASSES YOU WANT TO DO AND YOU KNOW THAT YOU'RE SIGNING UP FOR THE YEAR AS THE CLASS SIZES ARE CAPPED AND SOMEONE COULD MISS OUT ON A SPOT IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND AND NOT COME TO CLASS.**

Class selection

Please select the classes that you dancer will be enrolling into. The ages are a guide to what classes to select. Please flick us an email if you are unsure of what class you dancer should be enrolled into.

If your dancer has been doing a beginner class for 2 or more years they are most likley ready to move to the Intermediate classes even if they are under 11. But if you're unsure with this please email us and double check. Or if your dancer would feel more comfortable doing another year in beginner they are more than welcome to stay in that class!

Studio Policies

TERM FEES POLICY
Term fees: Term fees are sent out within the 2nd week of classes and will have the due date on the bottom. If you have not received yours within that first week please email us as we have had a few go missing. Students who have missed classes or would like to leave during the middle of the term will not be reimbursed for the remainder of the term.

DRESS CODE

Dancers are to wear ALL BLACK to class leggings, bike shorts or shorts, t-shirt, singlet or long sleeve (whatever is comfortable and moveable to dance in). You may wear any of the company merchandise of any colour to class.

**School uniforms and school sports uniforms MUST NOT be worn during your dance lesson.

Dancers must wear hair pulled back out of their face and no long necklaces or earrings, & no gum (this is a safety hazard).

Shoes:

Tap - black tap shoes (preferably lace up)

Jazz - black jazz shoes

Hip Hop - white sneakers

Contemporary - half soles or barefoot

Acro - barefoot

We suggest using www.thedancerswardrobe.co.nz or www.puredance.co.nz for all dancewear or TradeMe/Facebook Marketplace as a second hand option. We will have a box at the studio for donated/used dancewear available for purchase.

OBSERVATION AND PICK-UP
Sophie Jean Dance Company operates on a drop-off and pick-up policy for students of age 4-12. Students aged 4-6 can be observed by their parent(s) or guardian if necessary but we ask if you could stay in the office area as the lounge area is for the next class to wait. This is also to allow the child to focus on the dance class with no distractions. If a parent needs to be in the room with his/her child he/she has to refrain from talking during the class. We do not allow any food or drink in the studio. Only water is allowed. If you are late to pick up your child, we will wait until your arrival.

I understand and agree that in participating in any dance class, workshop, rehearsal or performance, there is a possibility of physical injury. I agree to release and hold harmless Sophie Jean Dance Company, including its teachers, dancers, staff members, and facilities from any cause of action, claims, or demands now and in the future. I will not hold Sophie Jean Dance Company liable for any personal injury or any personal property damage, which may occur on the premises before, during or after classes. Furthermore, I understand that I should be aware of my, and/or my child’s physical limitations and agree not to exceed them. If I am signing this waiver for my child, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian and have the right to waive these rights.
