This is your event! The Chamber will gladly assist you with the following:
- Notify Chamber members, the Board of Directors, Chamber Ambassadors, and Town officials of your ribbon cutting and encourage attendance.
- List your ribbon cutting on the Chamber’s Calendar (online, print, and email listings).
- Have a member of the Chamber’s staff provide congratulatory remarks at the event.
- Bring the “giant scissors” and ribbon.
- Advertise your ribbon cutting via social media prior to the event.
- Take pictures at the event to post on the Chamber’s social media channels, and provide to The Wake Weekly for possible publication in a future edition.
What is my business responsible for?
Because your ribbon cutting is your event, there are no set rules. To make your event successful, however, please consider the following:
- Schedule your event at least four weeks in advance. We recommend holding ribbon cuttings on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:00 pm for best attendance. Only one ribbon cutting event is scheduled per week.
- Provide light refreshments. The Chamber is happy to provide you with a list of members who can help you with catering.
- Determine who will cut the ribbon and who will be in the photo. Think about staff, additional owners or partners.
- Prepare a quick speech and be sure to have plenty of information about your business available.
- Invite everyone you know! Invite your family, friends, employees, customers, business associates, etc. to celebrate this momentous occasion in the history of your business and to attract a larger audience.
- Consider having giveaways or door prizes.
