  • SPJ26 Convention Breakout Session Overview

All breakout session panelists and moderators must attend the SPJ convention in-person at the Hilton Columbus Downtown in Columbus, Ohio. All breakout sessions will be 50 minutes long, with longer sessions available if content requires. Rich diversity in cultural background, professional experience, industry, generation, etc., is important to SPJ. We are looking for the widest representation of diversity in our convention presenters and topics for attendees. If you are submitting a proposal for a session, it's expected that you are the moderator.
  • Format: (000) 000-0000.

  • Co-Presenters

The selection committee wants to maximize the teaching/sharing time of each breakout presenter. Therefore, we are limiting breakouts to one moderator and three (maximum) co-presenters. The selection committee is requiring all proposed presenters' names be listed below at this time.

  • Program Objectives and Target Audience

We are looking for programs that get the attendees involved, engaged and help build their skills. What are three takeaway goals that you want the audience to gain from the session? Be specific: skills, information, methods, tools, etc.
  • Who is the primary audience? (Check all that apply)*
  • Session Flow

Give us an idea of how the program will be presented. Will it be a moderated panel? What tools and teaching methods will you use? We suggest using interactive activities that will engage and involve the attendees; the more interesting and original, the better the chance it will be selected. For example: Give time for attendees to practice a skill while observers offer feedback. Work through a goal setting procedure with worksheets. Give assigned questions for small group discussions.
