  • About the Playhouse Project
Are you a Sumner County family with young children and limited means to provide a playhouse of your own?

Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County’s Playhouse Project is a special opportunity for families to receive a custom-built playhouse—designed with your child’s favorite things in mind and created by caring volunteers and community sponsors.

This unique program not only brings smiles and joy to kids, but also helps plant the seeds of homeownership by giving children a space to imagine, dream, and play.

    Here’s How It Works:
Local sponsors and volunteers work together to fund, design, and build each playhouse in one day, based on your child’s interests and needs. At the end of the day, your family is invited to attend a special “playhouse reveal” where you’ll receive your finished playhouse and meet the team who built it just for you.

    📍 Event Date & Location:
May 4, 2026 at 327 Sumner Hall Dr., Gallatin, TN 37066
⏰ Families arrive at 3:45 PM for the reveal!

    Who Can Apply:

    • Families that live in Sumner County
    • Children must be under age 7
    • Families must have limited ability to purchase or build a playhouse themselves

This program is not based on income but on need—we understand that life circumstances like medical bills, job loss, or financial strain can make it hard to provide something like this. If that’s your situation, we encourage you to apply.

If Selected, Here’s What You’ll Need to Do:

    • Fill out a short application including:
    • Your child(ren)'s names and ages
    • Favorite colors, theme ides, or interest
    • Any special needs or sensitivities (like sensory issues) we should know about
    • Why this would be meaningful for your family
    • Pay a $50 refundable deposit (returned upon delivery of the playhouse)
    • Be available to attend the playhouse reveal on May 4, 2026
    • Help coordinate delivery of your playhouse within 2–3 weeks after the event
    • Have a safe, accessible place to store your playhouse (it is 4’ wide × 5’ long × 6’ high and made of wood; it cannot be disassembled)
