• ASPIRING STATEWIDE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS (ASSET)

    Cohort 2, 2023-2024
  • Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the ASSET Program provided by the Indiana Council of Administrators of Special Education (ICASE).  This program is a yearlong experiential program requiring your attendance at an in-person bootcamp (late summer of 2023) as well as a full day per month (over Zoom) from August through May of the 2023-2024 school year.  At the successful completion of the ASSET program, participants will meet the requirements to sit for the respective Praxis Exam(s) and with passing scores add the endorsement of "Mild Interventions," "Intense Interventions," or both "Mild AND Intense Interventions."  This program offers monthly support to you regarding special education practices while you are immersed in a classroom with the support of a locally chosen mentor.  We look forward to considering your application as we move into year two of this program!  Thank you for applying!

    APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Please complete this application and required uploads in one session.  Most fields are required before you can move forward with submission.

    Required documents:

    • A copy of your active Indiana Teaching License (this must be the offical license with a State Superintendent Signature at the bottom).  You may print a copy of your license for free by logging into the LVIS system on the IDOE website where you apply and renew existing licenses.  A screenshot from the IDOE teacher lookup system will not suffice.
    • A copy of your most recent official teaching evaluation (if you are a newly licensed teacher, please upload your final student teaching evaluation to meet this requirement).
    • An official letter of support from your District Special Education Director (or Cooperative Director if applicable). Letters from other administrators will not suffice to meet this requirement.  The letter must come from your Director.  If for some reason you do not have a District Director because you are in a private school or small charter, please contact the ASSET Program Director to discuss possible alternative options.  You may wish to send this template to your director to make things easier: Click here for a template.  Once your director completes this letter, and returns it to you, you can then complete the application.

Also have available the name, email address and phone number of your Director as well as the name, email address and phone number of your mentor (if different from your director) to complete the application.

Please refrain from submitting partial applications as they will not be processed.  If you do not have access to a required document, contact Dr. Arthur at jay@imperativeleadership.org or call 317-759-2895 for assistance.

You may ALSO schedule a time to connect with me if that would be easier for you to answer any lingering questions you may have about the program or understanding better if it may be a fit for you! Please check out my availability by clicking HERE!

  • Your mentor for the program should be an adminstrator of special education.  In a small percentage of cases, the mentor will be someone other than the District or Cooperative Director.  Once you have discussed this with the Director you have listed above, please complete the following section if it is determined someone other than your director (a designee) will be acting as your mentor.  Again - this should be a seasoned administrator or supervisor of special education of some type.  Leave the next three items blank if the person above is serving as both your Director and Mentor.
