The Curator agrees to read and abide by all responsibilities outlined in the document “Curator Responsibilities”.
While the Curator has a wide discretion to either accept or refuse tendered works,
he/she/they understands that the Ptarmigan staff member responsible for the Gallery at any given time also has a role to play in advancing the overall goals of Ptarmigan, ensuring that the quality and subject matter of the works to be exhibited meets Ptarmigan’s standards as a community arts group. This includes not only ensuring that there will be no exhibition of pornographic, hateful or otherwise offensive works, but also that any policies or guidelines adopted by Ptarmigan Arts from time to time are considered, and where
possible implemented.
Ptarmigan Arts will provide all reasonable materials commonly used for the installation of the work and all marketing materials for the show.
Ptarmigan Arts is not able to provide compensation to guest curators for their time.
Curators who install shows that include an Open Call (a show that is open to all artists and displays a wide variety of work as opposed to a small show of select artists) will be eligible for the volunteer benefit (25% commission rate on their work, reduced from the standard 40%) for any sale of the curator’s own art work during the show.
