  • The Erin Nicole Simpson Memorial Scholarship was established to commemorate the life of Erin Nicole Simpson. In her lifetime, Erin demonstrated an uncommon commitment to improving the lives of others through her research and work in public health. 

    Erin was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Columbia University, New York.  She completed coursework at Johns Hopkins University and an internship at Cook County Hospital.  Erin was a former employee at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and served as a Senior Research Administrator at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  She was also a freelance editor and researcher for various books and scientific publications. 

    In addition to being an accomplished academic, Erin was a passionate gardener, professional chef, and world traveler.  She was also a beloved daughter, loving sister, and dear friend.  This scholarship is to promote her legacy by furthering opportunities for a dedicated young woman like Erin.

    The Erin Nicole Simpson Memorial Scholarship is a $2,000.00 nonrenewable scholarship that will be presented at the LTHS Awards Night held annually in May. Applications are available through the LTHS webpage, www.lths.org. An applicant must complete the application form and submit the required documents as outlined below. Funds will be distributed via the Lockport Township High School District 205 Foundation to the recipient.

    Scholarship Criteria

    Qualification Requests:

    1. Be a graduating female LTHS senior
    2. Major in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Microbiology, and/or a pre-med curriculum
    3. Statement of financial need
    4. Be in good academic standing with a 3.0 minimum GPA
    5. Submit an essay highlighting:

    Challenges or obstacles you have encountered and include volunteer, community service, or extra-curricular activities that have shaped and/or helped you become who you are today. May also include future educational plans and career goals. (250-500 words)

    All parts of this application must be submitted on for before Monday, April 6, 2026 by 3:00 pm
