Adoption Barriers of NGIoT technologies
  • Adoption Barriers of NGIoT technologies

toward impact evaluation perspective of the project H2020 ASSIST-IoT (GA 957258)
  • Purpose of the questionnaire

This survey is part of the project "Architecture for Scalable, Self-*, human-centric,
Intelligent, Secure, and Tactile next generation IoT’ — ‘ASSIST-IoT’", funded by the European Union’sHorizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 957258.

The task T8.4 (part of WP8) of the project ASSIST-IoT has developed this questionnaire containing tables and heterogenous fields in order to understand the adoption and implementation barriers of Next Generation IoT solutions (i.e., administrative, political, financial, technological, geographical, cultural or problem related barriers/drivers.).

At this purpose WP8 relies on the exposed information on the already developed deliverables of the project (https://assist-iot.eu) and spreads this questionnaire to selected experts and stakeholders to gain knowledge on such barriers and drivers.

The questionnaire is structured in seven parts, starting with a profiling chapter to understand the responder background, followed by several sub-parts corresponding to the features that characterize each barrier, with a combination of different kinds
    of questions (examples: open, closed....).

The aims of the survey are:

    • To collect experts’ and stakeholders’ opinions on the relevance of each barrier and specific aspect, in order to feed back the technical and exploitation approaches of the results of ASSIST-IoT.
    • To understand the different views of the barriers depending on the respondent profiles,
    • If necessary, to map additional barriers which had not been considered

This questionnaire is the first of a series of three surveys that are planned to be exerted by T8.4 of ASSIST-IoT. Whereas this instance focuses on global barriers and their main reasons, the second one will mostly address technological details and the third one will analyse sector-specific concerns alongside highlighting the drivers instead of the barriers.

  • Disclaimer about confidentiality and use of the data

All collected data will be anonymised and held securely in line with Universitat Politècnica de  València ethics requirements, and national legislation requirements that are in line with EU Directives and Regulations. More specifically, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) ((EU) 2016/679), the Data Protection Law Enforcement Directive ((EU) 2016/680), the Directive on privacy and electronic communications (2002/58/EC), and the Regulation on the processing of personal data by the Union institutions and bodies ((EU) 2018/1725). Only information about profiles will be stored with the purpose for knowledge gathering and ASSIST-IoT project documentation reporting. The results of the survey will be aggregated, analysed and described in a synthesis report. An electronic version of the final report will be sent upon request.

The information, responses and opinions provided by the participants, are their personal opinions, and under no circumstances reflect those of their relevant organisations.

In the implementation of this survey, the ASSIST-IoT partners will follow the ethical principles, as specified in the Data Management Plan of the project as well as in the Ethics and Privacy Protection Manuals v1 & v2. All collected data will be anonymised and held securely in line with the partners' ethics requirements, national legislation requirements and EU Directives’ requirements.
