Easy-only basic fitness required
Moderate-Long Day and/or more strenuous: good level of fitness required.
Difficult-a bigger day with challenging terrain, lots of distance/elevation and/or heavier pack:need to be in very good shape.
Very Difficult-Rejoice in your suffering; a potentially very physically demanding trip
Personal Skill Level Requirements

Very Low: Little or no technical difficulty- an easy hike
Low: Typical 3rd class Scrambling-need to use hands and minimal exposure if you fall.
Moderate: 5th class rocking climbing and/or Grade 2-3 ice climbing-use of rope and belaying.
High: Difficult Scrambling-4th class climbing that likely will require a rope-more exposure with greater chance of injury if you fall, glacier travel.
Very High: 5th class rock climbing and/or Grade 4+ ice climbing/glacier travel skills needed-technically more difficult-high exposer if you fall
AST 1 or equivalent experience/training
Crevasse Rescue
Moderate ski ability: ability to ski will in backcountry powder.

ICE: Helmet, Harness, Ice axe(s), crampons, stiff boots fitted to crampons,
Glacier: Prussics, pulleys, 3 locking carabiners
Basic Mountain: Bear spray(summer), trekking poles, daypack, snack/lunch, water, trekking poles, normal mountain clothing (gloves, base/mid/shell layers, gaiters etc)
Rock: Helmet, Harness, belay device, accessory cord, 3 locking carabiners, prussic etc.
Backcountry Skiing: Avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe
