  • We are pleased to invite current HUCM students to apply for Howard University Medical Alumni Association, Inc. scholarships!

  • Scholarships start at $1,000 and can be used for tuition, housing or other costs related to attending HUCM.

    If you are awarded a HUMAA scholarship, your financial aid through Howard University may have to be adjusted to accommodate the scholarship. If you have questions regarding how the HUMAA scholarship may affect your financial aid, you may contact the College of Medicine's Financial Aid Office.

  • Demographic Information:

    HUMAA's goal is to honor donors who have asked that priority consideration be given to students meeting certain demographic criteria such as gender, ethnic origin and race, or birthplace when selecting awardees. Otherwise, this information in no way affects the outcome of scholaships granted. 

  • Definitions for Racial and Ethnic Categories:

    African: A person having origins in any of the black ethnic groups of Africa whose grandparents were born in Africa.                                                                                  American/Indigenous Indian or Alaska Native: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.
    Asian: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.
    Black: A person with African ancestral origins whose grandparents were born in the US.      Caribbean: A person who is of Caribbean descent and whose grandparents were born in the Caribbean.                                                                                                     
    Hispanic or Latino: A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin. Middle Eastern or North African: A person who has has origins in the Middle East and North African including Iran, Israel Turkey and countries that form the Arab League and non-Arab countries.                                                    Native Hawaiian Other Pacific Islander: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.                                                              White: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe.
