Visual Artists  - Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists Application
  • Henry Goodman 2026 Application for Visual Artists

    SUBMISSION DEADLINE: August 28, 2026 at 5 p.m.
  • FUSION: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association is pleased to invite emerging visual artists to submit work for consideration to the Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists. Work will be shown in collaboration with clay and glass pieces from FUSION members.

What does “gathering” mean to you? Show us pieces that reflect the theme of gathering and apply it in your artist statement to share the meaning in your work.

Are you wondering if you are an emerging artist? Here is FUSION's definition:

An emerging artist is an artist in the early stages of their professional career who is developing an artistic voice, building a focused body of work, and committing to a sustained practice in clay or glass.

Emerging artists may be formally trained or self-taught and are actively working toward presenting their work publicly through exhibitions, sales, commissions, residencies, teaching, or other professional opportunities.

They are beginning to gain visibility and recognition with a goal to have a presence in galleries, collections, or the broader art market.

Emerging status is not tied to age and is inclusive of artists at any stage in life who are newly establishing a professional identity.

FUSION invites submissions of paintings, collages and photography with a minimum dimension of 30" x 30".

    COST OF ENTRY

Payment must be made online with your submission through this form. Only works submitted with approved payment will be juried.

You will be notified by email no later than September 9, 2026 if your work has been selected.

    • $40/one work plus HST
    • $70/two works plus HST
    • $90/three works plus HST

     CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

These guidelines are here to help your submission process go smoothly.

Choose work that reflects where your practice is right now and engages with the exhibition theme.

Strong, properly labelled images are essential.

    Important Notes

Late or incomplete entries cannot be accepted.
    All juror decisions are final.
Accepted work must remain in the exhibition for the full schedule. If purchased, the artist will arrange for the work to be delivered to the buyer at their expense after the show ends.

Submitted images may be used for promotional and documentation purposes.

    Eligibility

Submitted work must be original and completed after January 2025.

    The Work

All submitted work and artist statements must respond to the exhibition theme.

Sets or multiples, such as a series, are considered a single entry and must be priced as one set.

The work in the exhibition must match the images submitted and be exhibition-ready.

    Size, Weight & Display

FUSION invites submissions of paintings, collages and photography with a minimum dimension of 30" x 30". Artists are responsible for providing clear installation instructions.
All work must be packed in clearly labelled, reusable packaging.

    Pricing, Sales & Insurance

Work should be priced to reflect current market value. A current market price is required even if the work is not for sale for insurance purposes.

FUSION manages all sales and applies a 40% commission; 60% is paid to the artist at the end of the show and once payment is received from the purchaser.

Artists are responsible for arranging insurance if desired. FUSION is not responsible for any damage or loss arising from the transportation, set-up, display, or storage of works.
Artists are responsible for shipping sold work to buyers.

Unsold work will be collected at the end of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for the retrieval of work from Neilson Park Creative Centre on or after October 11, 2026. More details will follow upon acceptance.

If purchased, the artist will arrange for the work to be delivered to the buyer at their expense after the show ends and after payment has been processed.

    Copyright & Reproduction

The submission of any entry gives permission to FUSION or any participating gallery to reproduce and use any image submitted for publicity, documentary, or archival purposes, including use in FUSION publications, the catalogue, website, and social media.

    Image Specifications & File Naming

Images are used for jurying and publication.

Submit JPEG images only, with a maximum resolution of 2 MB and no compression.
Save the image in the correct orientation.
Photograph work against a neutral background; include frames if applicable.
Images must show the exact work being submitted.

Image files must be named using the following format:

Please include the photographer’s credit so we can recognize their work. If you took the photos yourself, write “Image by the artist.”

    Photo Tips

Use natural light and simple backgrounds to ensure clarity and accurate colour.
Include both a full view and a detailed image (if you wish).
Avoid filters or dramatic lighting effects.
Phone photos taken in good light are perfectly acceptable.
Ask yourself: Is this image strong enough to be published online? Consider focus, colour, and cropping.
