Automotive Technician Job Description

Responsible for the efficient, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of Guest’s vehicles, the Automotive Technician position is a great way to start your career at Car-X Tire & Auto.  Starting day 1 you will begin a comprehensive Technician training program, covering all aspects of your new role, while preparing you for the next. As an Automotive Technician for Car-X, you will be an essential team member, performing repair services on Guest vehicles. More importantly, you will be part of a team working together to deliver 5 Star Guest experiences, while using your Technician skills to take care of people, their cars and ensure our guests have safe, reliable transportation.

Pay is based on experience.

Responsibilities

Perform brakes, suspension, tire installation, scheduled maintenance, and all manner of automotive repairs and maintenance, that you are qualified to perform
Secure our guests approval to perform the work as a result of the diagnosis; and always maintain a clean, neat work area
Complete thorough automotive vehicle inspections on every vehicle you service and perform any repairs and maintenance
Test drive guest vehicles and use our shop truck in a safe manner to pick up inventory as needed
Collaborate with teammates and provide leadership to General Service Technicians 
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High school or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years of automotive technician experience
• Valid Driver License
• Own a basic set of automotive tools or participate in tool purchase program.
• Ability to work with hands overhead, stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs.
• Guest and team focused mindset
• Have and maintain an Automotive Technician State Inspector’s license, where applicable.

Preffered Qualifications

• ASE automotive certification in at least one of A1-A8
• Automotive Technician State Inspector License
• Automotive technical school certificate/degree

General Service Technician Job Description

The General Service Technician is an entry level Automotive Technician position and a great way to start your career at Car-X Tire & Auto.  Starting day 1 you will begin a comprehensive mechanic training program, covering all aspects of your new role. As a General Service Technician, you will be an essential team member, performing maintenance services on Guest vehicles. More importantly, you will be part of a team working together to deliver 5 Star Guest experiences, while using your Technician skills to take care of people, their cars and ensure our guests have safe, reliable transportation.

Pay is based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Mechanic duties include; Changing, mounting, and installing tires
• Wheel removal, tire repair and balance, tire patch/plug repairs
• Quick lube type duties such as lubrication and oil change
• Inspect and rotate tires 
• Basic automotive maintenance work such as battery installation
• We will train you to do alignments, brake services, and scheduled maintenance services

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

• HS diploma or GED equivalent
• Automotive experience
• Own basic set of Mechanics tools or participate in tool purchase program
• Valid Driver license

As a Car-X Assistant Automotive Store Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of everyday store operations including the efficient, productive and safe operation of our service bays. • Collaborate with Store Manager on operations of the store and decisions of hiring, training, coaching, disciplining and terminating employees 
• Support automotive technicians in establishing and maintaining productive sales environment by training and developing teammates on all shop operations and guest services 
• Assist with scheduling employees, completing timecards and assigning work to Lube and Tire technicians
• Performs duties of automotive technician when needed 
• Attends meetings and clinics to maintain current knowledge of tools, parts, and repairs

Automotive Store Manager Job Description

This position is responsible for providing the day-to-day leadership to stores and teammates to support the Car-X Tire & Auto vision to be a leader in automotive and tire centers, trusted by consumers as the best place for quality maintenance and repairs. 

Essential Functions:

• Develop the Sales and Technical teammates to produce a consistent 5-star Guest experience.
• Ensure sales goals are achieved by assisting in the development and
• implementation of sales plans, thorough knowledge of services and products and automotive industry.
• Introduce tire and service products to guest in efforts to maximize sales and guest satisfaction and loyalty. 
• Support teammates in establishing and maintaining productive sales environment by training and developing teammates on all shop operations and guest services.
• Ensures store is effectively staffed by managing the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, discipline, and development of employees.
• Ensures expense control through management of payroll dollars, telephone usage, store maintenance and repairs, supplies, utilities, and other controllable expenses.

Management Responsibility:

This position provides the day-to-day leadership for all positions within the store to include General Service Technicians, Master & Automotive Technicians, and Assistant Store Manager.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High school or GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver License.
• 4+ years of automotive experience and automotive technical school
• Certificate/degree/ASE Certifications/State Inspector License.
• 4+ years of professional sales experience including both phone selling and in-person sales. Supervisory experience in tire or automotive industry.
   

Knowledge & Skills:

• Guest and team focused mindset with extensive experience in customer-facing, customer-centric environments.
• Excellent communication skills, business mentality and basic algebra skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, and percentages.
• Proactive with demonstrated proficiency in multi-tasking, fast-paced environments with a drive for problem solving and results.
• Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work with hands overhead, stand for long periods, and lift 50 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
