How does the Matterport software work?

After a scan is made it starts to build out the area. Each scan is then connected to the previous scan which helps continue to build out the scanned area.
Scan 15 scans in each area and the room will be complete

Always start at the front and work your way out. Scan a full room and then go to the hallway and continue scanning.
You can jump around rooms easily, pre-planing isn't necessary
Why would you do a scan you aren't planning on using?

To get a complete picture and fulfill a room
There is no reason to do a scan that you're not going to utilize
If a hallway is more than 15 feet, and looks the same, what should you do?

Scan every 3 feet rather than the normal length
Scan in the next room as hallways don't need to be scanned
Get a small tree, plant or other "object" that will allow the scan understand that it's moving forward

How do I Photoshop out mirrors and outside objects?

Use the wizard tool
You can't use photoshop so to shoot before mirrors and make sure the outside objects are acceptable. You may need to tell someone to move their car or move cones outside. Also, if you shoot in front of the mirror you'll see the camera.
