    Elara Pre-Installation Site Checklist

    This pre-Installation checklist is intent is to ensure that whoever receives an Elara gateway is aware of the steps that must be taken before the Elara can be shipped to the site for installation. In those steps, there are different installations and configurations to be performed
  • Elara Physical Connections

  • Open the Elara cover

  • After inserting the SIM card, listen for a click on the Elara

  • Insert the SD card into the Elara until you hear a click

  • Connect the backup battery and place it inside the Elara

  • Close the Elara cover

    Verify that there are no cables coming out of the box

  • Elara installation without a cabinet tray/box

  • Connect the Elara to a power source(12-65 v) and grounding

  • Connect the GSM antenna to its dedicated socket.

  • Connect the RS485 cables to the USB converter

  • Make sure the Status LEDs are blinking as follows:

    • Status 1 LED is blinking Green color, one short blink every ~1 second

    • Status 2 LED is blinking Green color, short blinks

    • COM (Modem) LED is blinking fast, short blinks

  • Simple Troubleshooting:

    •  If the Status 1 LED isn’t blinking at all, it means the Elara isn’t getting power - please make sure the green connectors are correctly connected.
    • If the Status 2 LED blinks fast red color, it means the SD card isn’t inserted - Please see how to solve it here - How to insert an SD card?

    • If the Status 2 LED blinks slow red color, it means the configuration files on the SD card are missing/corrupted - Please see how to solve it here - How to import Elara files to the SD card?

    • If COM LED is blinking red color, it means there is no connection to the cloud server, please see how to solve it here - link
  • If necessary, connect the Elara RS485 to the appropriate gateways/sensors

  • If necessary, connect the Elara with the relevant analog/digital inputs and output

  • Elara installation on a cabinet tray/box

  • Connect the Cabinet Tray to a power source via main input fuse (+18VDC to +75VDC)

    The (+) should be connected to the red part and the (-) should be connected to the black part. If the connection is made the other way around, it will cause a short circuit and can be very dangerous.

  • Connect the green connectors to the Elara, this will supply power, and grounding, and extend its inputs to the gray terminal.

  • Connect 2 communication cables to the gray terminal blocks, labeled DLS & BZR, while DLS is for Port A, and BZR is for Port B.

  • Connect the other side of the communication cables to the 1(A) & 2(B) ports in the RS485 converter

  • Connect RS485 converter to the computer

  • Elara Power Center Configuration

  • Connect the Elara to the laptop via the RS485 to usb convertor (in accordance with the previous step)

  • Open the Power Center software

  • Make a serial connection using the Power Center

    1. Connect Via -  Select the correct "serial COM#"
    2. Active Device - Select "Elara"
    3. Make sure that the status is "Serial"
    4. Choose the "Elara" tab
    5. Click on the "Read Configuration" button
    6. Click on the "Status" button
    7. Click on the "Information" button
    8. Click on the "Status" tab
    9. Make sure the “Connection” is “Connected to host”
    10. Make sure the SD card status is “Inserted / configuration OK”
    11. The Elara version should be up-to-date (not red)

  • Check the Elara ports

  • 1. Click on the "Configuration" tab

    2. Double-click the “Network”

  • 1. Check the “Server URL” and “Network APN”

    2. Check modes in both "Port-1 Mode" and "Port-2 Mode" (Port 1 must be the host and Port 2 binary).

     

    If your SIM card has been provided by Galooli, check that the information listed in the tabs matches the information you received from Galooli. Contact Galooli technical support if needed.

    If any other cellular supplier has provided your SIM card, you should contact them to verify the accuracy of the information

  • Click "Write Configuration" and then “Reset”

    1. Enter the Galooli solution - Link

    2. Select the Manager Application > My units

    3. Locate the relevant unit in the organization tree

    4. Move the unit to an appropriate cluster or group - Link

    6. Locate the relevant unit in the organization tree

    7. Enter the Live Mode > Verify that the unit is connected and that some data has been transferred from the unit to the Galooli system - Link
