Program-Specific Questions

SYJCC's Summer Teen Internship Programs are four weeks long, Monday through Thursday. Interns are expected to attend the full program each day. Routine doctors' appointments and family travel cannot be scheduled during the internship. SYJCC allows excused absences for Regents exams and medical emergencies only. Are you able to commit to this?

SYJCC requires an additional comitement of at least 15 hours of volunteer time during the school year following your internship. Can you commit to this continued engagement?

What motivates you to intern with SYJCC?

This internship involves spending time with older adults in a variety of settings. What would you like to learn from an older adult? What do you think you can share with an older adult?

During the internship you will have many opportunities to meet someone new and tell them about yourself. What could you share to get the conversation started? What questions would you ask?

Briefly describe a time that you were in a new social situation or a new program with people you didn't know. Perhaps you met people who were very different from you. What was that experience like for you?
