DEACON NOMINATIONS
The Deacon Ministry of Warren Baptist Church supplements and supports the work of the Pastor and Church Staff in caring for the needs of our members. Their prayer, care and outreach strengthen many aspects of our mission and ministry.
You are encouraged to participate by providing a name or names for consideration, not to exceed a total number of 30 deacon candidates.
Please prayerfully consider your role in this nomination process and consider each nominee in light of the Scriptural instruction mentioned below. The strength and credibility of our work are dependent upon faithful hearts and hands in the lives of our deacons.
Qualifications and Duties
Deacons are men called out and set apart by the church through selection and ordination to serve the needs of the church in various assigned tasks relative to the care of the fellowship, and in areas that may release the pastoral ministers to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4).
Deacons are to be zealous to guard the unity of the church in the bonds of peace by providing counsel in the affairs of the church, aiding the Pastor, and serving in ministering to the membership. They shall devote themselves to the spiritual welfare of the members, and seek to encourage them in active service.
Every deacon shall be of “good report” and meet the scriptural qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:1-8, and shall be at least 21 years of age and also have been a member of Warren Baptist Church for at least one year.
Nominees
Members of Warren Baptist Church may nominate up to 30 individuals. Popularity and visibility should not be the prime reasons for nomination, but rather those men meeting the qualifications described in I Timothy and Acts.
