  • Welcome to the Velocity Summer Internship Program!

     Prior to beginning your internship, your attendance is required at one of two dates for our mandatory orientation. We will also require that you and your legal guardian read, understand and sign the following Safety & Participation Agreement, along with providing Emergency Contact information.

    As a reminder, please note the information below: 

    • Internship program is open to all Vista incoming seniors, Class of 2024. 
    • The Internship will be with a Vista company based on your career interests.
    • Internship placements will be assigned in early Spring.
    • The paid internship will consist of 100 hours, working a maximum of 5 hours a day, at $16/hour.
    • Internship hours will be completed from June 12th through August 9, 2023.
    • Once this application is completed, you will be contacted by the Vista Chamber of Commerce with information about the Orientation.
    • This application also serves as your signed internship participation agreement.
    • Transportation assistance may be available, if necessary.

    Along with attending the Orientation in the Spring, please review the Velocity Internship Orientation and Conduct Standards information below: 

    • I should discuss the emergency procedures for my internship site with my site supervisor at the start of the internship. 
    • I should communicate directly with the Internship Supervisor regarding my Internship tasks, schedule and expectations. 
    • I should communicate regularly with the Internship Supervisor during my internship about any questions or concerns I have. 
    • Sexual harassment is a form of workplace discrimination and can resemble anything from being touched to propositioned to being addressed as "babe", "honey", in the workplace. If I feel I am being discriminated against in my internship, I may contact Rachel Beld, CEO of the Vista Chamber of Commerce, at ceo@vistachamber.org or call (760) 726-1122.
    • I should never engage in behavior that might be perceived as discriminating against an individual on the basis of their age, race, gender, sexual orientation, mental capacity, or ethnicity. 
    • I should never give or loan money or other personal belongings to a client. 
    • I should never give a client a ride in my personal vehicle. 
    • I should never report to the Internship site under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
    • I should never enter into personal relationships with clients of the Internship site or representatives during the term of my internship.
    • I should never disclose, without permission, the Internship site's proprietary information, records or confidential information concerning its clients. 
    • I should nevery engage in any type of personal business with Internship site clients during the term of my placement. 
    • In case of an emergency injury or illness while at the Internship site, you should call 911 and contact your supervisor immediately. For non-emergency injury or illness while at the Internship site, you should contact your supervisor immediately.

  • Student Participation Agreement

  • 1. I will complete the 100 required hours, with a maximum of no more than 5 hours per day, towards the internship at which I am placed. I also agree to complete any paperwork required by my site supervisor as part of the internship. 

    2. I understand and acknowledge that there are potential risks associated with this internship. I further understand and acknowledge that my safety and well-being are primarily dependent upon my acting responsibly to protect myself from personal injury, bodily injury or property damage. I understand that I may stop participating if I believe the risks become too great. If I choose to stop participating at the Internship Site, I agree to immediately notify the Vista Chamber of Commerce at workforce@vistachamber.org or (760) 726-1122. 

    3. I am voluntarily participating in this activity. I am aware of the risks associated with traveling to/from and participating in this Internship. I assume all related risks, both known or unknown to me, of my participation in the Internship, including travel to, from and during the Internship. 

    4. I agree to hold the Vista Chamber of Commerce harmless from any and all claims, including attorney's fees or damage to my personal property that may occur as a result of my participation in this Internship, including travel to, from and during the Internship. If I need medical treatment, I agree to be financially responsible for any costs incurred as a result of such treatment. I am aware and understand that I should carry my own health insurance. 

    5. While participating in this learning activity, I will (a) exhibit professional, ethical and apropriate behavior; (b) abide by the Internship Site's rules and standards of conduct, including wearing any required personal protective equipment; (c) participate in all required training; (d) complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner; (e) request assistance if I am unsure how to respond to a difficult or uncomfortable situation; (f) be punctual and notify the Internship Site if I believe I will be late or absent; and (g) respect the privacy of the Internship Site's clients. 

    6. While participating in this Internship, I understand that the Internship Site may dismiss me if I engage in any of the aforementioned inappropriate behaviors. If I am dismissed from the Internship, I agree to immediately contact the Vista Chamber of Commerce at workforce@vistachamber.org or (760) 726-1122.

    7. I have read this document and am signing it freely. No other representations concerning the legal effect of this document have been made to me.

  • Please note that the Emergency Contact information will be provided to the assigned Site Supervisor at the Internship site.

    Once the Participation Agreement has been submitted, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the student, Parent/Legal Guardian and the Vista Chamber of Commerce. In addition, a Representative from the Vista Chamber of Commerce will contact both the student and Parent/Legal Guardian with additional information.
