The Portland-Sapporo Sister City Association (PSSCA) and Oya no Kai are inviting eligible students to apply for one of 16 positions as a Junior Cultural Ambassador of the City of Portland between Portland, Oregon, USA and Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan as a member of the 2024 Sapporo Summer Institute (SSI). Application deadline is November 17, 2023, 5:00 pm.

Please submit two letters of reference from community members who can recommend you for the SSI. Due the the expected volume, please do not request a reference from Musashino-sensei or Akin-sensi. SSI will not be able to accept references from them.

Students participating in the Sapporo Summer Institute will be “Junior Ambassadors” of the City of Portland, the Portland-Sapporo Sister City Association, and Oya No Kai. They will need to collaborate well with diverse groups, tolerate ambiguity, and demonstrate a high level of responsibility and respect. Please describe your candidate's attributes in these areas and why you think they would be a strong fit for the program.
