• OUAZ ATHLETICS ELIGIBILITY QUIZ

  • PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:

Your answers have no impact on your eligibility. This is all part of the learning experience.

This quiz has no negative impact on your eligibility determinations.

  • 1. Who is responsible for your eligibility?*
  • CORRECT ANSWER: "I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ELIGIBILITY."

You have the greatest impact on your eligibility by passing classes. So you need to know what is required of you to be and remain eligible.

Your coach and the director of compliance are your support, but we are not responsible for your eligibility.

  • 2. What is the timeline for eligibility?*
  • CORRECT ANSWER: "WEEKS TO MONTHS"

Sending documents, reviewing documents, communicating with the NAIA and applying bylaws takes weeks to months. Be sure to start the process early and get tasks done efficiently.

Part of the slow nature of eligibility is to protect both the University and the student from mistakes that could cause negative impact.

  • 3. What are the two sides of eligibility? (where do you need to get determinations from?)
  • CORRECT ANSWER: "OUAZ AND NAIA"

In order to be certified as eligible you need both a determination from OUAZ and the NAIA. One without the other does not make you eligible.

  • 4. You are considered "not-eligible" until what?
  • CORRECT ANSWER:

"I am proven eligible and hear my name read out loud from a completed eligibility certificate by the director of compliance."

Every semester that you intend to compete you will need to be proven eligible by appearing on a completed eligibility certificate.

Once you hear your name read out loud from the completed certificate and only by the director of compliance you are eligible to compete.

If you do not hear your name read out loud you are NOT ELIGIBLE.

  • 5. How often do you need to receive an ELIGIBLE determination from OUAZ?*
  • CORRECT ANSWER:

    "Every Semester"

Every semester that you intend to compete you will need to be proven eligible by appearing on a completed eligibility certificate.

  • 6. How many eligible determinations do I need from the NAIA Eligbility Center?
  • CORRECT ANSWER:

    "One per University"

Once you receive an eligible determination from PlayNAIA you will not need to complete the process again. If you transfer or return after a gap you may need a new application.

Alternate Answer: "I don't need one because my sport doesn't require it"

If you are ONLY competing with Cheer & Dance, Stunt, Weightlifting, or Water Polo you DO NOT need a determination from PlayNAIA. You will need the semester determination from OUAZ.

  • 7. Select all eligibility rules that you need to meet:
  • CORRECT ANSWERS:

    • 12-Hour Rule: You must be full-time enrolled at the time of competition
    • 24/36 Hour Rule: You must have earned 24 semester/36 quarter hours in your last 2 semesters/3 quarters.
    • Progress Rule: You must have earned a specific number of hours prior to entering your next season of competition
    • GPA Rule: You must have a college GPA of a 2.00 or better
  • 8. What can happen if you participate while being not-eligible?
  • CORRECT ANSWERS:

    • 2 Seasons of Competition will be taken
    • All teams can be removed from post-season participation
    • My team will forfeit every contest in which I participated.

Please don't be that team, please don't be that person!

  • 9. How can you become immediately not-eligible following the reading of your name?
  • CORRECT ANSWER:

"I fall below full-time enrolled status"

If you are not full-time enrolled you are not meeting the 12-hour rule.

    Two important facts:

    1. You can administratively be dropped or withdrawn due to lack of attendance. GO TO CLASS!
    2. Always add before dropping a course. And ALWAYS let your coach know before you take any action!
  • 10. What are the best two places for me to get information about my eligibility?
  • CORRECT ANSWERS:

    • OUAZCompliance.com: A website build for you to assist you in understanding eligibility!
    • My Coach: your coaches are a great resource for questions about eligibility!

INCORRECT ANSWER: Email the Director of Compliance
