We offer visits at all three of our hospitals. Visiting veterinarians can visit up to 2 weeks. Please note that housing, food and transportation are NOT provided. We anticipate you will enjoy your stay and have a rewarding and educational experience.

While we cannot guarantee placement in a specific area, we will make every effort to accommodate your interests.
Surgery: Observing various types of surgery, anesthesia, endoscopies, radiology and lameness exams*
Medicine: Observation of medicine procedures/emergencies as biosecurity allows (certain barns have limited access), outpatient cases, digital imaging and occasional farm calls*
Ambulatory/Theriogenology (Lexington & Wellington only): Traveling on the road with an ambulatory or theriogenology clinician, in-hospital consults/case. You may be expected to meet them at a particular farm away from the hospital*
Podiatry (Lexington & Saratoga only): Observing veterinarians who specialize in podiatry and/or blacksmiths either on the road or in the hospital*

Rood & Riddle Equine is a private clinic with a loyal clientele. Our patient care and client relationships are of paramount importance to us. We are happy to accommodate visiting veterinarians to observe at our clinic. While we understand the interest that visitors have in participating in surgery and case management it is the policy of Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital that visitors should be aware that their involvement in patient care is strictly as observers and they should not expect to directly participate in the case management of our patients. Additionally, there will be no photographs or videotaping of horses, procedures, charts or images during your visit to Rood & Riddle.

Visiting veterinarians agree to follow all in-place COVID protocols at the time of their visit.

Student visitors have priority over visiting veterinarians.
