Gender and Dance - Tell Your Story !

Tell a story.  Read a story.  Help resolve community tension.

Many dance groups struggle with controversy about gender language. Strong emotions swirl, and discussions become heated.

Everyone wants to be understood. It's challenging, though, to explain yourself when your story is deeply personal and private.

GenderAndDance.org provides a safe (anonymous) space to tell and to read stories about gender and dance. There is no space for comments, no need to explain or defend. 

Tell your story from the heart. This helps others respond with empathy and compassion. Read the stories of others. Witness the diversity of our communities.

As understanding grows, so does goodwill. We seek solutions that bring us together, rather than pushing us apart.

That's our goal. Thanks for your contribution !

Please consider these guidelines.

1) Your story is anonymous by default -- please honor privacy for other people in your story, too (i.e., avoiding using names or references that would identify someone).

2) This website collects personal STORIES -- it's not for debate, for argument or for explaining your point of view. Tell us what happened that was painful, memorable, exhilarating, or thought-provoking.

3) Life is complicated. It's OK to submit more than one story. But ... Three is the limit. We want to hear from many different people.

4) THANK YOU for focusing on your experience, and the feelings that resulted. Speak from your heart rather than your head, and readers will respond in kind.
