  • Make Bureaucracy Work for You
    Thursday, February 1, 2-3:30 pm ET

    Join us for a 90-minute virtual workshop with Marina Nitze, co-author of the new book Hack Your Bureaucracy and former Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under President Obama. In this workshop, participants will learn how to successfully navigate challenging bureaucracies to usher innovation forward. Using practical tips and winning tactics from Marina’s experience in government and the private sector, participants will gain practical insights into starting and leading projects and how to push forward successful initiatives regardless of your role on the team.

     

  • Industry Series: Learn to use OpenAI's GPT Tools in the Public Sector
    Wednesday, February 7, 2023, 2-3 pm ET

    In this 60-minute session, Lane Dilg, Head of Strategic Partnerships, Global Affairs at OpenAI, will provide information about how participants can access and use OpenAI tools, models and services. Participants will learn how to build GPTs -custom versions of ChatGPT that combine instructions, extra knowledge, and any combination of skills - without any coding required. Lane will also highlight how public sector organizations around the world are using OpenAI tools to enhance the experience of government workers and improve the delivery of public benefits.

    This workshop is part of InnovateUS’s new “Artificial Intelligence Industry Series," where speakers from leading technology companies will teach participants how to use specific artificial intelligence tools.   • How to Apply Human-Centered Design to Government AI Projects
    Thursday, February 29, 2-3:30 pm ET

    Join us for this 90-minute virtual workshop with Elham Ali, Researcher at the Opportunity Project for Cities with the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation at Georgetown University. In this training, participants will learn about approaches to integrate the principles of human-centered design and equity to Artificial Intelligence (AI) design, use and evaluation. Elham will share best practices for public sector professionals to apply human-centered design in AI to their work projects, team, and community collaboration. Participants will also learn from a city government case study where government advisers, community nonprofits, and a technology company worked together to successfully apply human-centered and generative AI design to a civic technology project.

     

  • Using Artificial Intelligence to De-Jargon Government Language
    Thursday, March 7, 2-3 pm ET

    Join us for this 60-minute virtual workshop with Abigail Fisher, civic design expert working with the Colorado Digital Service, and former design lead at New York City's Civic Service Design Studio. In this training focused on making government communications simple, comprehensive and effective, participants will learn about the importance of using plain language for communicating with residents and in which context and circumstances using plain language is necessary and appropriate. Participants will also learn how to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to de-jargonize government language, with a hands-on tutorial on how to turn a complex piece of government writing into simpler and easier-to-understand language for government employees and residents alike.

     

  • Knowledge Management Strategies: How to Learn from the Past and Invest in Your Future
    Wednesday, March 20, 2024, 2-3:30 pm ET

    In this 90-minute virtual workshop, Jay Liebowitz will discuss how public sector organizations can capture, share, and leverage knowledge both internally and externally. Drawing from his time at NASA and in other public sector and not-for-profit organizations, Jay will talk about how to integrate knowledge management strategies in government, in order to learn from past successes and failures, and to maintain and transfer expertise among government workers. The workshop will highlight human capital challenges in government, introduce knowledge management remedies and strategies, present government knowledge management case studies, and highlight future issues and trends in knowledge management.
