To Our Honored Representatives: Atascadero has no cultural center where important events, incredible performances and meaningful activities can be experienced by all generations. Our Community and High School bands struggle to find adequate performance space. Children are performing dances on concrete patios with a makeshift curtain backdrop. There is no performance venue with a proper stage, sound and lighting system in our region. No center exists where important traditions can be passed down to new generations. Attendance at Arts and Entertainment events requires traveling out of the region, negatively affecting our economy and our environment.

The Arts are a necessity of life, affecting many aspects including mental and physical wellness. The vital need for a proper Community Arts, Education and Events Center can be met. The Atascadero Printery Foundation has purchased and begun restoration of the Historic Press Building to meet this need. Working with The Atascadero Performing Arts Center Committee and many other local organizations, plans are set to repurpose the building into a state of the art facility with multiple uses for positive sustainability.

The Community has shown great support for the project. Since the
inception just a few years ago, over $600,000 has been raised through grass roots efforts. The design to retrofit the facility has been approved and permits issued. It's Time to finish the project! Public assistance funding has been obtained for many other projects in San Luis Obispo County.

We implore you to work as a joint force to bring needed funding to the Printery project. Together we can do SO MUCH BETTER for our COMMUNITY! Your help is needed.
