Non - Traditional Scholarship Criteria
1. The KEC Foundation Board of Trustees will award scholarships up to $1,000 each. The scholarship winners will be selected and announced in early summer, before the beginning of the fall semester for students attending a college or university.
2. This scholarship is open to nontraditional students, those returning to school later in life, those seeking a certification through a technical school in Oklahoma, and third—and fourth-year college students.
3. Scholarship recipients must be members of the Kiamichi Electric Cooperative or live in the household of a KEC member.
4. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a state-accredited community college, university, or technical school in Oklahoma.
5. Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in 12 hours or more per semester at such a college or university. This does not apply to students seeking certification through a technical school in Oklahoma.
6. Students receiving scholarship funds must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8 in their major area of concentration.
7. Scholarship funding will only be used for tuition, books, and supplies.
8. ORU Board of Trustees will select recipients based on these criteria:
- Financial Need
- Grade Point Average
- Leadership Skills: and
- Participation in extra-curricular activities
9. If a student selected to receive a scholarship cannot complete their education, the funds will be transferred to the next-ranking finalist.
The submission deadline for college or university students is April 1, 2025. This deadline does not apply to students attending classes at a technical school in Oklahoma. The foundation will only pay for one certification course.
