- What You Will do in this Role:
What You Will do in This Role:
The Finance Lead will develop and lead our full cycle accounting processes. After six months in role, Payroll, HR, and General Administration will be added to the role. Responsibilities include:
Accounts Receivable
- Review all outstanding client account balances monthly and follow up on past-due invoiceRespond to client inquiries regarding discrepancies in statements and resolve client billing issues
- Receive incoming payments and record them into the system
- Close sales ledger and review accuracy and completeness of sale
- Coordinate with internal employees on past-due invoices, as required
Accounts Payable
- Reconcile vendor invoices in Quickbooks against vendor monthly statements and investigate outstanding items
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding discrepancies in payments and invoice issues
- Accrue current month's expenses and follow up with employees on variances to budget
- Manage employee expense reimbursement process, following internal control processes
Bookkeeping/Financial Reporting/Financial Analysis
- Maintain bank and credit card reconciliations via Quickbooks integration with bank/credit card statements
- Generate internal monthly financial statements highlighting variances of actual to budget and prior year
- Prepare and file HST, QST, EHT and other government remittances
- Review, document and automate financial internal controls and processes
- Assist leadership team in annual financial budget process
- Lead internal audits of internal processes
- Assist external public accountants with year end financial statements
- Assist with other ad hoc projects
Payroll/Human Resources/General Administration (to start after 6 months in role):
- Process monthly payroll and review payroll for accuracy
- Maintain payroll master files, ROE and co-ordinate employment contracts with legal team
- Prepare month-end payroll journal entries via integration with payroll and accounting systems
- Calculate and process annual employee wage increases and annual bonuses
- Maintain knowledge of current payroll related legislation to ensure compliance
- Ensure all internal controls around payroll processes are maintained and updated as required
Requirements for This Role:
- 5+ years experience in full-cycle accounting activities
- Post secondary degree in accounting or finance and an accounting designation (CPA-CA, CPA-CMA, CPA-CGA)
- Tech-savvy individual with a proven track record of process auto
- Results oriented individual with high level of accuracy with attention to detail
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills working with internal and external business partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Wagepoint, Quickbooks, Dext, and Asana
