Unfortunately, there are sometime reasons we have to expel a child from our program either on a short term or permanent basis. We want you to know that we will do everything possible to work with the family of the child(ren) in order to prevent this policy from being enforced. The following are reasons we may have to expel or suspend a child from this center:
Immediate Causes for Expulsion
The child is at risk of causing serious injury to other children, him/herself or staff members. Child or Parent threatens physical or intimidating actions towards staff members or children in facility. Parents exhibit verbal abuse to staff in front of enrolled children. Parents are not following rules regarding health and safety of children or staff in the facility or on the property. Confrontation or altercations not relating to Champion Kidz on the premises that could affect the safety of anyone affiliated to Champion Kidz.
Parental Actions for Child's Expulsion
Failure to abide by the Champion Kidz Scholastic Institute and Childcare Parent handbook and by not following State Center Licensing requirements and the return of all required forms, which promote the health and safety of all children and staff in the facility. Habitual tardiness when picking up your child per the handbook policy and procedure. Verbal or physical abuse to staff or any members of the facility. Parent(s) or guardian not communicating or trying to work with facility to avoid expulsion by not discussing repeated challenging behaviors / issues with pediatrician or a physician after requested. Failure to inform facility of known issues with the child(ren) at registration/enrollment to safely and properly care for child(ren) at the facility.
Child's Actions for Expulsion
Failure of child to adjust to facility daily operations/schedules causing possible harm to themselves or others after a reasonable amount of time, electronic or paper behavioral reports communicating issues with parents. Parents not cooperating or trying to assist with issues being communicated about challenging behaviors. Uncontrollable outbursts that can cause injury to themselves or others. Ongoing physical or verbal abuse to staff or other children. Excessive biting to themselves, other children or staff even after reaching out to resources outside of facility for training and development to assist child.
Prior to expulsion, a parent will be called and correspondence will be sent home either electronically or paper copies indicating what the problem is, and every effort will be made by both the center and the parent to correct the problem. If, after one or two weeks, depending on the risk to other children's welfare or safety, behavior does not improve, and the center finds that they can no longer accommodate the child, the parent will be asked to remove him/her. The parent will be given a minimum of one week's notice to find another center to provide care for this child.
