A student who does not meet TBC's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standard and forfeits participation in financial aid programs could appeal to continue receiving financial aid if a life event outside the student's control prevented SAP. An academic committee reviews each appeal to decide if the student's experience that prevented SAP was beyond the student's control and if the student can meet SAP within one or two semesters. The appellate committee's decision is final. An appeal approval may include stipulations of an academic remediation plan prescribed by the committee. The committee designs individualized academic plans to enable students to regain SAP within the shortest amount of time and for the most significant educational benefit. An appeal approval with academic remediation stipulations becomes effective after the student agrees to the academic plan.
