• 2023 CHEER RULES

  • Cheerleaders may not practice until this contract is signed by a parent or legal guardian!

Unfortunately I have to start this document off with an old policy that will be strictly enforced – WE WILL NOT TOLERATE UNSPORTSMENLIKE CONDUCT ON OR OFF THE FIELD.

Cheerleaders are to maintain sportsmanship at all times. Cheers are to be positive in nature. We are cheerLEADERS and this HAS to filter over into the classroom and school events as well –

If your cheerleader gets into trouble at school – They will have consequences on their squads as well.  Each situation will be addressed specifically.

  • 1) Practice: –

Tennis shoes (preferably cheer shoes) MUST BE WORN at all times during practice/games – If you do not wear proper shoes you will NOT be allowed to practice – It will be counted as an absence

Safety is our primary concern - Absolutely NO VANS or van type shoes will be allowed at practice or games. Most if not all cheer type shoes have laces and can be tied - so if you shoes do not have laces and can not be tied - DO NOT WEAR THEM TO PRACTICE OR GAMES

Practice is hard work – We expect full effort at practice –

“Don’t Practice until you get it right – Practice until you can’t get it wrong”

  • 2) Absences –

    • If you are unable to attend you must notify your coach prior to the start of practice. If you are unable to attend a game – please alert the coach as soon as possible – preferably at the scheduled practice that week.
    • Absences can pose a problem for team productivity. This is supposed to be fun; however, a lot of practice is required.
    • Disciplinary actions will be taken for not showing up to practice and/or games without alerting the coach prior to missing.
    • Tardiness at practice and/or games will result in disciplinary actions.
    • Communication and commitment are the keys to a successful season
  • Disciplinary actions may be as followed and may be altered by the coaches as they deem necessary.

    1) If you miss practice (excused or unexcused) - Be prepared to not be in your same position when you return – We will fill your spot to complete the task/stunt – This does not mean you are completely removed from that position – Play it safe - BE AT EVERY PRACTICE.

    2) If you are late to practice you will RUN laps around the football field - How many times will be determined by the coach (This also means that if you are running laps while we are practicing a stunt – your spot may be filled) -  Play it safe - BE ON TIME.

    3) If you are late to a game you will have to sit down and not cheer during the game – Not the whole game, but a time determined by the coach – For example – You are 10 minutes late to a game – You may have to sit down next to the coach for 1 quarter  - Play it safe – BE ON TIME.

    4) If you make a habit of being tardy or absent – possible removal from the squad with no refund may be enforced

    5) If you miss 2 practices you will not cheer at the next game - if you miss another practice you will not cheer at the next game (etc) - practice is just as important as the games!

  • 3) Uniforms -

Uniforms and shoes are to be clean at all times. Uniforms are to be washed on delicate cycle and never put in the dryer.

We match from Bow to Toe!  Unless approved per coach prior to the start of the game – If you don’t match you don’t cheer – We are a squad and not an individual on the sideline.

  • 4) Personal Appearance –

NO FAKE FINGER NAILS ARE PERMITTED AT ANYTIME! Press-on or professional – It is NOT allowed

Make-up – Should be kept to a minimum –LIPSTICK IS NOT ALLOWED (at practice or at games)

You will be given a tissue and be expected to wipe it off

Jewelry is not allowed at practice or games. Stud Earrings (at games) will be the exception; this is for safety reasons.

  • 5) Stunting –

    • It is not permitted to practice any form of stunting without the Cheer Coach at any time. Remember safety first. No practicing on any concrete or asphalt surfaces.
    • If you are caught practicing stunts without a coach – you will not be allowed to stunt
    •  If you cannot take stunting serious – you will not be allowed to stunt
  • General Team Rules

Parents: - While parents are always welcomed at practices and games – we politely ask that you leave the coaching to the coaches.  Also if you need to speak with the coaches please do so before or after practice and/or game, not during.

If you have an issue with a coach - Please give me a call –

Cheerleaders:  Any discussion with the coach regarding personal business should be conducted outside of practice time. Please schedule a time to meet or discuss with the coach before or after practice.

If you want to make up your own cheer – please coordinate that with the coach before or after practice not during practice.

You are to listen to the coaches – If you want to argue or disrespect a coach – You will sit down and not be allowed to cheer (length of time is at the coach’s discretion)

Respect should be shown to all Beggs Little League volunteers at all times. This includes Beggs Little League Cheer and Football Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Board Members and Parent Volunteers.

Cheerleaders are to maintain sportsmanship at all times. Cheers are to be positive in nature.

Conditioning and good nutritional habits are necessary for your success as a cheerleader. Conditioning will be part of daily practice.

There will be no cheering while there is an injury on the field.

Cheerleaders may not approach the goal posts or go on the field at any time during the game.

Cheerleaders may not chew gum during practices or at games.

Water is allowed on the track area. No eating will be allowed while cheering except during off quarter (and NOT on the sideline) or with Coaches permission.

There will be no profane language or gestures or acts of unsportsmanlike conduct from the cheerleaders.

If you are on the sideline – You are expected to give 100% effort at all time – If you cannot give this effort you will not be allowed to cheer.

Cheers are to be performed on the sideline – When not doing a cheer – You need to stand at attention and wait for the next cheer to be called – idle chitchat needs to be done off the sidelines and not during the game.

No one other than cheerleaders and coaching staff will be allowed on the sidelines - friends/siblings will need to sit in the stands
