Doodle Dandy Rescue Foster Application

Please use this form for both temporary and permanent foster opportunities.
Doodle Dandy Rescue is based out of the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. We ask for ALL our fosters to meet the following minimum requirements:
- You are 21 years of age or older
- Located within the metropolitan areas of Austin, DFW, Houston or San Antonio
- Within 30 - 45 minutes to our partnering veterinary clinics and/or willing to transport to an approved DDR veterinarian
- Willing and able to connect and communicate on the rescue's digital platform when selected as a foster
- Agree not to leave foster outside while not at home or overnight. Our foster dogs are "inside" dogs.
If you do not meet the above requirements and are still interested in supporting Doodle Dandy Rescue, please consider becoming a volunteer and complete an application here.

While a dog is placed in your home as a foster, we as a rescue will cover all required expenses including vetrinary visits, grooming, supplies and more. The primary requirement of our fosters is to provide a loving home for our foster dogs and ensure they receive regular care from an approved vetrinarian.

Please Note: Completion of the foster application process does not guarantee your acceptance as a foster. After your applicaiton is reviewed by our DDR team, we will contact you to discuss next steps.

Thank you for wanting to foster for Doodle Dandy Rescue! We couldn’t do what we do without you! Because we are always trying to engage in best practices for the dogs in our rescue, It’s the important job of our fosters to prepare their foster dog for its forever home. The guidelines, terms and conditions outlined below will help you and DDR accomplish that.

Please review the following Doodle Dandy Rescue Foster Terms and Conditions. You are required to sign and approve these terms and conditions before you can proceed to the foster application:
- I understand that I may be required to provide foster care to the foster dog for an extended and indefinite period of time. Doodle Dandy will remove a dog with proper notice when the foster or Doodle Dandy Rescue needs the dog to be moved.
- I understand that Doodle Dandy Rescue provides no guarantee as to the health of the foster dog and that the foster dog may have medical needs, socialization problems, and may not be housebroken. I understand that DDR is under no obligation to place a foster dog with you so that you can adopt the dog through DDR.
- I understand that Doodle Dandy Rescue uses an online app (Slack) and that all communication concerning a foster dog needs to be on the dog’s channel or in a direct message to the Foster Mentor or the leadership team.
- I understand that Doodle Dandy Rescue does its best to assess the temperament of the dogs coming into the rescue, but we do not always know the temperament of incoming dogs. It is the foster’s responsibility to limit or isolate our foster dog from children, other dogs, cats, etc. until I know how the foster dog will interact with those listed. If at any time there is a concern, it is the foster’s responsibility to contact an authorized Doodle Dandy Rescue representative (Foster Mentor) to remove the dog.
- I agree I will not arrange for any veterinary care or training sessions for my foster animal without the consent of an authorized Doodle Dandy Rescue representative (Medical). Once a need is identified, authorization will be sent, and at that point, the foster may call to set up an appointment with the partnering vet or trainer assigned to the foster dog.
- I agree to provide transportation for our foster dog within 10 days of their arrival.
- I agree that I am fostering this animal for Doodle Dandy Rescue, and that I do not have any right of ownership over my foster animal. I further agree that Doodle Dandy Rescue’s rights are superior to mine.
- If I am planning to move at any time during the period when I am housing a foster animal, I agree to contact Doodle Dandy Rescue prior to the move and provide Doodle Dandy Rescue with my new contact information.
- If at any point I can’t, or do not want, to continue to foster, I agree to contact Doodle Dandy Rescue (Foster Mentor) and arrange for surrender and return of the foster dog to a representative of Doodle Dandy Rescue. I am also required to return all DDR provided supplies, food and items.
- I will not transfer possession or custody of my foster dog to any other person at any time, except for temporary, short-term possession for the purpose of vet care, grooming, etc.
- I agree to communicate with the Foster Mentor via Slack with updates, questions, concerns and photos on a regular basis.
- I understand and agree that DDR will not be responsible for any damage a foster dog does to my home.
- I understand and agree that DDR is not liable for any injuries that occur to any adult or child in your home as a result of a foster dog's behaviors.
- I agree that if I refuse or fail to comply with any provision of this agreement, Doodle Dandy Rescue has the right to terminate this agreement. Doodle Dandy Rescue has the right to the immediate surrender and return of my foster dog. I further consent to provide Doodle Dandy Rescue access to my premises if necessary to facilitate the return.
- I understand and agree that all communication and documentation afforded to me by DDR is proprietary to DDR and cannot be shared or released to anyone without permission from the Director of DDR.
- I agree to upload a home video with the required elements to the designated location within 48 hours of being onboarded as a DDR foster.
We have prepared a couple of quick videos to give additional information about fostering with DDR. Please view them to help with your orientation to our foster program. These are posted on the Doodle Dandy Youtube channel for your convenience . You can pause and take your time going through the videos. They will be very helpful going forward.
