    The Clearwater Public Library System has archive access to the Clearwater Sun (January 1925-May 1989) and the St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times (1970-present) newspapers.

    Use this form to request an obituary published in either newspaper. Please provide as much information as you have available.

    You can expect a response by e-mail with the results of our research within 28 days. There is no charge for this service, but you are welcome to make a donation to the Friends of the Clearwater Public Library and/or the Clearwater Library Foundation, should you wish.

    • Obituary/research requests are limited to three (3) per year, per person, or entity.
    • Obituary research requires a date of death; only the week following the date of death will be searched.
    • Obituaries are not published for everyone or may be published in a different newspaper.
    • Obituaries published in the St. Petersburg Times before 1970 are available from the St. Petersburg Public Library System.

    The Clearwater Main Library has archive access to the Clearwater Sun (January 1925-May 1989), the St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times (1970-present). It also has access to historical area city directories and some local yearbooks.

    Please use this form to provide as many specific details as possible, including names, dates, and locations. The more details provided, the more likely the information will be located.

    • Research/obituary requests are limited to three (3) per year, per person, or entity.
    • The type and amount of research conducted is limited by the available resources and the knowledge of library staff.
    • Requests which are unclear or which require more than an hour's research will not be fulfilled; however, staff will endeavor to suggest alternate resources where possible.
