BEFORE you file, be sure you have the following handy (wherever applicable - Not all of these may apply)

Below is a list of common documents needed to complete your tax returns.
- VALID photo Drivers License, State ID (for Taxpayer & your spouse if filing jointly)Previous Year Tax Return (New Clients Only)Taxpayers Social Security CardsAll Dependents Social Security CardsBirth certificate of dependents OR medical/school form from last year (such as Medicaid application or school shot records or doctor's letter)Proof Of residence (Ex: lease agreement, utility bill current mail with mailing address)Healthcare Card for Taxpayer/DependentsIncome (Ex: W-2, 1099/Self Employment Expense log or summery of income, Business License, Bank Statements)Bank account information including account and routing # if you plan to use direct depositDaycare letter/information for your children, including how much was paid for each child, child's name, SSN/EIN and address of daycare providerSix-digit Identity Protection PIN if sent to you by the IRS for you, your spouse and/or dependents

- Home office expenses – Want to take this deduction? You’ll need to know how big your space is in square feet. If you decide to use the actual expense method, you’ll ALSO need a record of your home-related expenses, like utilities and mortgage (or rent).Mileage records – In order to get a deduction for your travel, you’ll need to know how many total miles you drove for work purposesRecords of business expenses records including receipts, credit card statements, records of checks, etc.Form 1098 (Mortgage Interest Statements) & property tax bills if you are a homeownerProperty tax statementsTotal of charitable contributions given in money (Be sure you have the documentation/receipts showing the date, value and charitable organization)Total of charitable contributions given in non-cash donations (DI, Goodwill, etc.) - (Be sure you have the documentation/receipts showing the date, value and charitable organization)Total of unreimbursed medical and dental expenses paid out of pocket (Must exceed 10% of your adjusted gross income) These can only count if they are very large - over 7.5% of your income. So, if your expenses are minimal, you don't need to worry about totaling them. Do not count pre-tax premiums paid through your employer)Education expenses from qualified instuition: Form 1098-T for you, spouse and/or any dependents with higher education expenses and student loan statements (can be found on your school website)(Form 1098-E) Student Loan Statements/ (Form 1098-INT) Student loan interest paidState and local taxes you've paid
