Level 3: Demographic Diversity
This is a key aspect of ensuring OACETT's Board and Committees accurately represent the diverse experiences and perspectives of its members. For OACETT Demographic Diversity includes two major groupings of characteristics, Visible and Non-Visible.
Visible Diversity - refers to characteristics that can be readily seen such as age, gender, colour or race (e.g. a person who is non-Caucasian in race, or non-white in colour).
Non-Visible Diversity - refers to the characteristics that cannot be readily seen such as, but not limited to disability, gender identify, socioeconomics, education, culture, and experience.
We acknowledge that for some what we often consider visible may not be and the opposite may also be true. We also have purposely not included questions about certain diversity characteristics, such as age, gender or education, because that information is already in our Database as part of your membership and certification.
