Interim/Supply Preachers Application Process

Disclosure: Whereas each church is autonomous and reserves the right to ask anyone to come and preach, the Greenup Baptist Association feels it is important that the supply preachers we endorse have met necessary qualifications. As such, men who desire to be listed by the Greenup Baptist Association as available for pulpit supply must comply with the following: Procedures:

1.Be a member in good standing of a Southern Baptist church, of which is in good standing with the Southern Baptist Convention, its state association and local association.

2. Complete the attached application and questionnaire. 3. Submit a written recommendation from the pastor, sending pastor, or chairman of deacons from the church he is actively attending. This requirement is for men serving in churches inside and outside of the Greenup Baptist Association, as well as retired or former pastors and staff of the same.

Policies: 1. Interim/Supply Preacher applications will be reviewed by the Association Mission Strategist and the Credentials Committee. The individual will receive notification once approved. 2. It is the responsibility of the Interim/Supply Preacher to notify the Association office if his availability status has changed. 3. If the Interim/Supply Preacher submits a resume or becomes a candidate for a church in the Association, he shall notify the AMS. 4. Approved Interim/Supply Preacher's will remain on the approved list for the year in which they apply. At the beginning of the year, Interim/Supply Minister's will be contacted and asked to update their status. 5.If an Interim/Supply Minister is not accepted to the Interim/Supply Minister list, or once approved becomes ineligible to serve, he will be notified by the Credentials Committee of his status in writing.

(Please Print) By completing this form, you give the Greenup Baptist Association permission to share your name and information with churches and/or church leaders requesting an Interim/Supply Preacher. Providing this information to churches is not a guarantee of an invitation to preach. Further, compensation for interim/supply ministry is to be negotiated by the applicant and the church. The Greenup Baptist Association can offer suggestions for both upon request to the church and the candidate.

Have you or your spouse ever been divorced or had a marriage annulled? Have you or your spouse ever been arrested or indicted for a felony? Do you or your spouse currently abuse illegal substances? Do you or your spouse live such a lifestyle that it could be an embarrassment to the church you are serving or to the Association? Do you object to having a criminal background check or providing proof of a background check in the last 3 years?

Do you agree that the Scriptures are true and without any mixture of error? Do you believe that the miracles and the historical events recorded in the Bible are

Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the virgin-born Son of God who died for our sins, rose

bodily from the grave and is coming again? Do you recognize immersion of believers as the scriptural mode of baptism? Do you agree that the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture?

Do you actively engage in personal evangelism? Do you give regularly to your church and encourage others to do the same? Do you hold to the doctrine of eternal security for the believer? Do you affirm the adopted articles of faith of the Greenup Baptist Association, the

Baptist Faith and Message 2000?
