Rural Journalism Fellowship Award

The Rural Journalism Fellowship award is available to students who have a journalism or broadcasting internship during spring 2026. The requirements to be eligible for this award are you must be completing at least 50% or more of reporting in a rural community outside of Lincoln or Omaha Nebraska area. If you are selected for the award the money will be applied into your UNL student account. If you have an outstanding balance at UNL the money will automatically deduct from your UNL bill. If you do not have a balance with UNL, then the award will be refunded to you as either a check or direct deposit to the account linked to your MyRed.
