FOR ALL TEACHERS
- Please review Teachers' Guidelines (on the members portal here) to make sure you understand all the rules and expectations of teaching at McGuffey.
- Instructors must receive permission from their studio-mate before scheduling classes. If the studio-mate is not comfortable with another member teaching in their shared space, the teacher can use Starnes Classroom.
- Young students must be accompanied to the bathroom by the teacher or an assistant.
- Please have all students (or students' parents) complete a waiver/release of liability. If you need a template for this, contact Rebekah Wostrel at rawostrel@gmail.com
- You may teach in your studio space or the Starnes Classroom.
- ALL Artists are strongly encouraged to acquire business insurance. It will provide you extra liability coverage beyond the coverage that McGuffey's policy provides. (This is in the event that an accident occurs and a lawsuit is brought against you/McGuffey). The policy will also cover you in the event that you leave the property with your students. McGuffey's policy only covers the building and grounds. State Farm has reasonably priced policies.
- Teachers who process their own sales are required to have a "School of Instruction" BUSINESS LICENSE through the City of Charlottesville. This is done in person at City Hall and costs $35 annually and you must submit a copy of your license to the office. If you do not have a license, all class sales must be processed by McGuffey through the office and additional charges will apply (4% fee for credit card purchases and 2% commission).
