Al’s Sporting Goods is seeking experienced, detail-oriented Bike Service Technicians to join our team of skilled mechanics at our Boise location. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role focused on providing high-quality bicycle service, maintenance, and repair for our customers.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about bikes, has strong mechanical experience, and takes pride in delivering exceptional workmanship and customer service. Technicians will diagnose issues, perform repairs and tune-ups, and ensure every bike leaving the shop meets our high standards of safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and full builds on bikes of all types.
- Provide excellent customer service through clear communication and expert recommendations.
- Handle bike tune-ups, overhauls, and the installation of new components.
- Troubleshoot issues and identify broken or damaged parts.
- Articulate feedback to customers and team members.
- Assist with the purchase of bikes, parts, and services.
- Keep detailed records of the work done and parts used in the database.
- Fit customers for bike accessories, e.g., helmets, pedals, saddles.
- Educate customers on the proper use, operation, and maintenance of bikes, e-bikes, and related equipment.
- Collect payments by accepting cash or card and make change for cash customers.
- Balance cash drawer by counting cash at the beginning and end of the work shift.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, products, and techniques.
Qualifications
Required
- 1–3 years of bike mechanic experience, with mid- to expert-level proficiency in bike repair and maintenance.
- Proven experience as a bike mechanic; certification or formal training is a plus.
- Passionate about bikes — hands-on experience with cycling gear is required.
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Skilled in suspension servicing, wheel building, and mountain/road bike overhauls.
- Knowledgeable about current bike products, components, and service procedures.
- Comfortable interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Collaborative team player with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Energetic, positive, and able to work with a sense of urgency.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and major sales events.
- Able to lift 50+ lbs.
- Must be 16 years or older.
