Inspired by the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to ensure that all “children grow up in the sunlight of opportunity,” the Wealth Disparity Task Force is sponsoring an art contest for students in grades K-12. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday and his work to advance economic opportunity for all Americans, this contest encourages students to revisit the life and words of Dr. King. The work of contest winners will be featured in the upcoming report of the NJ Wealth Disparity Task Force.
Contest:
Recognizing art as an important tool in advancing progress, the NJ Wealth Disparity Task Force is asking students throughout the State contributions. Youth are asked to submit original artwork that illustrates the hope of New Jersey as the “State of Opportunity,” one of the abiding principles of the Murphy Administration.
- Participants may submit an original drawing, painting, or piece of digital artwork that follows the theme “New Jersey - The State of Opportunity.”
- Entries should be submitted in a high-resolution JPEG, PNG, or PDF format.
Eligibility:
- Open to students K to 12
- One entry per participant
- Please disclose on the submission form any assistance from parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and/or indviduals over 18
- Winners will be selected from each age category: Kindergarten, Elementary I (Grades 1-3); Elementary II (Grades 4-6); Middle School (Grades 7-8); and High School (Grades 9-12).
- The work of contest winners will be featured in the upcoming report of the NJ Wealth Disparity Task Force.
Evaluation:
- Entries will be judged on artistic design, creativity, and the ability to inspire and give hope.
- All selection decisions by the NJ Wealth Disparity Task Force are final.
- Late submissions will not be accepted.
