  • Recruitment Policies

    Reinhardt University has a recruitment process which occurs at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters. That means you will have a chance to find your social and academic niche before deciding whether or not you want to join a fraternity or sorority. This will allow you a chance to fully learn about Reinhardt’s fraternities and sororities and develop sustainable relationships in college and beyond.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Each fraternity and sorority is dedicated to finding members with leadership potential, high academic standards, and a commitment to service. That is why we have some requirements for participating in Fraternity and Sorority Life at Reinhardt. When you are ready to pursue membership in a fraternity or sorority, be sure to review our process and guidelines.

    Enrollment Classification - Only currently registered, degree-seeking undergraduate students of Reinhardt University may participate in recruitment and be members of a fraternity or sorority organization.

    Credit Hours - Candidates for membership in a recognized organization are required to have signed up for 12 credits hours per semester at Reinhardt University.

    Grade Point Average - Candidates for membership and active members in a recognized organization are required to have and/or maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 at Reinhardt University to be able to participate in Fraternity and Sorority Life. Incoming freshman who are interested in Fraternity and Sorority Life must have a minimum 2.75 high school GPA. 

    Good Standing - Candidates for membership as well as active members must be in academic, financial and disciplinary good standing and verified by the Office of Student Affairs. This means that a student may not be a respondent in and found responsible in a conduct case beyond a level 1 violation, may not have incomplete sanctions in a conduct case where they have been found responsible, and may not be on disciplinary probation or suspension. This also means that students may not have a financial balance with the University or be on academic warning, probation or suspension.

    Attend Recruitment Events - Candidates for membership in a recognized organization are required to attend Open House and other events during the week of Formal Recruitment.

    FRATERNITY/SORORITY STUDENT CONDUCT/ACADEMIC RECORDS RELEASE FORM

    I understand that Reinhardt University complies with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 as Amended (FERPA), and will disclose information to the individual(s) named below at its discretion. By signing this authorization, I am waiving my rights of nondisclosure of these records under federal law only as to the persons specifically listed. 

    I hereby authorize the following actions associated with my personal student conduct and academic records:

    STUDENT CONDUCT

    I authorize the Office of the Dean of Students or their designees to disclose my student conduct records to: (a) the president, standards officer, housing officer, house corporation officers and national office of my Greek chapter or any similarly situated individual should such record be germane, in the University’s discretion, to a student conduct process or other matter associated with my chapter; or (b) to the members of the Greek Council, in the University’s discretion, in any matter associated with any of the recognized general fraternities or sororities at Reinhardt University. The purpose of the release of my student conduct records is to ensure, among other things, the continued welfare of Reinhardt University fraternity/sorority community through collective accountability for established rules, guidelines and standards.

    GRADE RELEASE FORM

    As a student seeking membership in a Greek-Lettered organization, I will be required to release my academic status reports in order to verify eligibility to join and continue membership in chapters. Should I become affiliated with a Greek Organization, I also authorize the release of grade information for the purpose of scholarship awards, recognition and educational needs. I hereby authorize the Office of the Dean of Students at Reinhardt University to determine my eligibility for certain qualifications (new membership process, awards, recognitions, initiation, officer elections, etc.).

    For recruitment and membership requirements, I authorize the disclosure of my semester and/or cumulative grades or other academic conduct records to the: Dean of Students Staff, Fraternity/Sorority Chapter President, Fraternity/Sorority Membership Recruitment Coordinator/New Member Educator, Fraternity/Sorority Chapter Advisors, Fraternity/Sorority Academic/Scholarship Chairperson, Fraternity/Sorority standards officer, Fraternity/Sorority (Inter)National Headquarters or local house corporation officers, or any similarly situated individual, upon their request, or as the Dean of Students Office deems appropriate.

    This authorization shall remain in effect as long as I remain a member of the organization and I am enrolled at Reinhardt University, unless I submit a written revocation of this authorization to the Dean of Students Office.
