  • Temporary Freelance Gallery Assistant - Main Duties

    As a  gallery assistant, you are the first point of contact for visitors to Dora House and provide a crucial role in welcoming them to the building. You will also help ensure the safety of visitors and art on display. The galleries at Dora House are open from 11am-5pm Monday-Saturday. These temporary roles are responsible for opening the gallery to members of the public during the periods of time where exhibitions are open at Dora House in 2026 and 2027, namely: Monday 14 September – Saturday 28 November (inclusive) 2026 and Saturday 6 February – Saturday 24 April (inclusive) 2027. Note there is a possible extension to cover the summer show starting in July 2027. You must be able to work during all three periods. This is a remunerated position at £14.80 per hour. The main duties are to ensure the exhibitions are ready for viewing (if there is technology to ensure this is turned on and working) and to provide a friendly welcome to visitors as they enter the building. The Gallery Assistant is the first point of contact for visitors and invigilates the gallery space, providing crucial object and site security as well as top customer service standards ensuring all those who enter Dora House have a fantastic visitor experience.     You will have experience in dealing with the public and a friendly communicative manner. You will be someone reliable with the ability to work on your own and willing to accept responsibility, as well as a flexible approach.
