Saskatchewan Youth Band - Intermediate Band Audition Form

The Saskatchewan Youth Band (SYB) - Intermediate level is a great experience for dedicated grade 9 & 10 band students! As an SBA Band Camp participant you have a unique opportunity to be considered for the SYB - Intermediate band. Thank you for considering this great experience.

If you did not hear about this opportunity from your band director and if you are interested in being considered for the Saskatchewan Youth Bands, please complete the form below and upload your aidition recording.

SYB participants will be selected after the auditions are reviewed. Selected participants will then be asked to formally register (including the participation fee) and participate in a few online sessions prior to the main March 17 & 18, 2023 weekend in Regina.

The Audition Process

1. Record your audition - in MP3 format or see information below if you need to convert it to MP3. Please submit only ONE (1) recording with ALL of the audition items required. Be sure to label the recording file with the your last name & instrument. (ex: Smith/Flute)
2. Complete the form below - no later than January 20, 2023.
3. Uploaded your recording to THIS form (below).

The SYB Coordinator and committee will review all submitted recordings. Final selections for the band are anticipated by the end of January. Once selected, parents and students will be asked to formally register for the program to ensure their spot. At THAT stage there will be a registration fee of $75 or less. There is NO fee to audition.

AUDIO RECORDING: Fancy recording equipment is not needed! Smart phone recordings are perfect. If using an iPhone - use the Voice Memo app to record. You will have to convert the recording to an MP3 format. That can be done either using iTunes or a free online converter, such as https://online-audio-converter.com/

If using an Android phone - use the Sound Recorder app to record. After recording and saving, you can change the format to MP3 by clicking 'change' in save as. Please make sure you save as MPEG-Layer 3.

TECHNICAL NOTE: If you have any trouble with this nomination form, please ensure you are using Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, or newest versions of Internet Explorer to register. Older versions of Internet Explorer are not compatible.
