This is a drop-off class. Ages 5-10. Please meet in the classroom. Come dressed to explore the outdoors. Fee: $5 plus membership or admission to the Garden. If you register for 4 or more Afterschool classes at one time, you can receive a discounted $3 per class price (must be on one registration form).

Rainy spring days are perfect worm weather! Come learn about how worms help our garden grow and enjoy a chance to play with live worms.
Microscopic Life March 15th 4-5 pm
More microbes live in a single spoonful of soil than there are humans on Earth. In this class we’ll explore the invisible world of microscopic life all around us.
Leaf Detectives March 22nd 4-5 pm
Explore leaves with an outdoor scavenger hunt and a story about a pioneering explorer in the Amazon Rainforest.
What makes a Rainbow? March 29th 4-5 pm
Make a rainbow experiment with skittles. Then use a prism to split a beam of light and create a rainbow.
Remarkable Reptiles April 5th 4-5 pm
Meet two live reptiles and learn the unique characteristics of these important animals with reptile themed activity stations.
Big Bugs April 19th 4-5 pm
Insects like the Goliath Beetle, White Witch Moth, and Chinese Stick Insect are larger and sometimes heavier than many birds. In this class we’ll learn how these giant insects grow so large and we’ll measure out the lengths of the insects.
Earth Day April 26th 4-5 pm
Celebrate our wonderful planet and learn some easy ways to help the Earth. We’ll read an Earth Day book and rotate through nature themed exploration stations.
End of Year Celebration May 3rd
For our last Afterschool Class of the year, we’ll celebrate with cupcakes, see our live animals again, and enjoy nature and science themed games.
