About World Robotics Olympaid
The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is an international robotics competition gathering students from Grade 5 to university from over 70 countries in different competition categories.
Explorer Robotics Club has trained students in winning several awards in WRO, including 1st of Robot Mission (8-12 yrs) in 2022, 2020 and 2nd in 2019 in Canada. Students competed internationally as members of Team Canada in Panama, 2023, Germany 2022 and Hungary 2019.
ROBO Mission Category
RoboMission is a challenge-based competition. Students must design, construct and program an autonomous robot that can solve specific challenges on a field. Because the field is set up randomly each round, the robot needs to be able to make its own decisions during the run.
Future Engineer -Self Driving Car
The WRO Future Engineers category is a self driving car competition. Students ages 14 to 19 will design a model car, equip it with electromechanical components, and program it so it will be able to autonomously drive on a track and avoid obstacles. The Future Engineers challenge does not limit the students to any specific hardware or programming language, which is why working with electromechanical components (motors and sensors) and/or with a micro controller will be challenging.
Team from Explorer Robotics Club has win the 1st and 3rd place in 2023 WRO Future Engineer Competition, and win the 6th place Internationally in the WRO International Final in Panama 2023.
ROBOT Sport - Double Tennis
In the RoboSports category, teams design robots that compete
with robots of another team in direct matches. Students ages 11 to 19 can particiapte in this category. In a match each of
two teams have 2 robots on the field. The game is called “Double
Tennis”. Each team tries to place as many balls as possible in the
opposite half of the game field.
