Let's be proactive and not reactive.

The United States already had a high incidence of mental illness, but the pandemic made things worse.

Anxiety and depression are on the rise nationwide due to COVID-related illness, loneliness, unemployment, grief, and other stressors. The pandemic has been tough, but some groups have been hit much harder than others. It is already known to exacerbate social and economic inequalities and worsen and perpetuate the mental health of marginalized communities. People in rural America are already hit particularly hard, being less likely to get mental health care than people in cities. The same is true for people of color. A person of color is more likely than a white person to be hospitalized and die of COVID, and is less likely to receive psychiatric treatment. And for those who had no shelter or had been previously imprisoned, the consequences were severe.

Now, mental health professionals admit they have to confront ugly truths about America's healthcare system, including systemic racism and classism.

According to a 2019 report from SimplePractice, a practice management system for psychiatrists, the average cost of psychotherapy in the United States ranges from $100 to $200 per session, depending on the state. If you meet your therapist in person, you may be charged per session. The average American is still trying to figure out how to survive until the next paycheck, parents are sacrificing meals to feed their kids, some people are going on the path of criminality because of the financial crisis. How can they afford to receive mental health care? It should be free. There should not be a price for a human life, and who we are as humans resides within our minds.

As a proactive and a preventive measure, I propose that mental healthcare should be free for every American citizen. There should be free programs easily accessible to the masses for mental health care, at no cost. Everyone is facing mental challenges and adversity on a daily basis, it is only right to take care of our American people.

FREE MENTAL HEALTH CARE FOR ALL, NO COST, NO FEES.

Our government is boggled down with many financial programs, so we are hoping that doctors, specialists, and certified professionals will lend a hand, so we do not have to rely upon the government to help us with our cause.
The hope is for mental health care to be free, and for each of us to uplift each other with care as a community of Americans. Each one, reach one, help one, heal all.
