  • I am aware that my service may include extensive walking, lifting, use of tree pruning tools, removal of pruning debris and trash, and other duties. I will take necessary precautions to protect others and myself from harm, including wearing provided protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, etc) and exercising appropriate caution when on or near roadways.

Furthermore, I agree to limit my pruning activities to limbs

    1) causing clearance issues to pedestrians and vehicles,

    2) small enough to cut with hand pruners and small hand saws,

    3) reachable from the ground and

    4) located on tees within tree lawns, parks, and locations previously requested and approved by the Forestry Division

Forestry will spot check trees to ensure proper pruning and identity instances in which additional training may be needed.

  • I freely and voluntarily execute this release under the following terms:

    1. Assumption of Risk: As a volunteer, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury, and I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, including death, damage or loss that I may sustain because of participating in all activities connected with or associated with Neighborhood Foresters.
    2. Release and Waiver: I hereby release and forever discharge STL TreeLC, its affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, representatives, the City of St. Louis, and City of St. Louis Forestry Division from all liability, claims and demands of whatever kind, either in law or in equity, which are or may hereafter arise pursuant to my volunteer activities.
    3. Medical Treatment: I hereby release and forever discharge STL TreeLC, the City of St. Louis, and City of St. Louis Forestry Division from any claim which arises or may arise from any first aid, treatment, or service rendered to me in connection with my volunteer activities.
    4. Insurance: I understand that STL TreeLC does not carry or provide health, medical, disability or auto insurance coverage for my volunteer service. I understand that each volunteer is expected and encouraged to obtain his or her own medical, health, disability, and auto insurance.
    5. Volunteer Identification: Volunteers will carry their issued Neighborhood Forester card; this is your permit to maintain trees and should be shown to a member of the public if they question your authorization to carry out pruning and other tree care.
    6. Photographic Release: I hereby grant the STL TreeLC all rights to photographic and video images made during my service for internal use or for reasons of publicity.
