Qualifications

Article 3.3 of JABGA Bylaws

(a) Any Member who is 16 years of age or older on January 1 of the year of election who desires to be a director of JABGA shall (i) so notify JABGA at the Association’s principal office in writing not later than March 1 of the year of election and (ii)submit at such time a completed and signed Conflict of Interest Statement and Code of Conduct on the forms required by the Association.

(g) At all times during each director’s term, he or she must reside in the region for which he or she was elected, and he or she must maintain his or her membership. Failure to comply with either of the above requirements shall result in the automatic removal of a director from the JABGA Board.

Please be sure to complete all requirements and submit to the ABGA Office no later than March 1, 2025.

The newly elected JABGA Board of Directors will be announced during the JABGA National Show Awards banquet. Attendance for the National Show and Awards Banquet is highly recommended.

Director Responsibilities

JABGA Director Application
- Serve as an example and leader to the JABGA Membership
- Promote JABGA and the American Boer Goat Association
- Maintain a code of conduct and professionalism while representing JABGA
- Be familiar with all JABGA programs, opportunities, and Bylaws
- Remain up to date with current events and issues in the Boer goat and livestock industries
- Review and respond to all phone calls, text messages, regular mail, and email correspondence from ABGA and JABGA and all other individuals in a professional and timely manner
- Outline travel schedules with Youth Liaison and Director of Community Engagement one month prior to all events Assist in fundraising for JABGA programs
- Complete all responsibilities and assignments prior to deadlines
- Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and attending the JABGA National Show
- Assist in planning, organizing, implementing and attending each directors respected JABGA Area Regional Show
- Attend at least half of the face-to-face board meetings each year
- Be willing to devote the time necessary to the duties of the leadership position
- Stay in contact with the Youth Liaison and Director of Community Engagement
- Attend monthly board meetings (board members cannot miss more than 2 consecutive meetings. The Youth Liaison and Director of Community Engagement can provide a note stating monthly obligations)
- Must be able to attend the Junior Board of Directors Face 2 Face this summer

I, the parent/guardian of the signed youth, have read, understand, and agree to the time commitment that being a JABGA Director will require my child.

Statement of Release and Authorization

Whereas I desire for my child/ward to participate as a Director on the JABGA Board of Directors, and I hereby agree to the following:
1. I assume full legal and financial responsibility for their participation as a Director for the JABGA.
2. I grant the American Boer Goat Association, its employees, agents and representatives the authority to act in any attempt to safeguard and preserve his/her health and safety during their participation as a Director of the JABGA, including authorizing medical treatment and transportation on their/my behalf and at my expense. Accident and health insurance are recommended for his/her participation as a Director of the JABGA.
3. I agree my child/ward must conform to all applicable rules.
4. I voluntarily indemnify and hold harmless the American Boer Goat Association, Board of Directors of the American Boer Goat Association, their employees, agents, and representatives from any and all liability, loss, damages, costs, or expenses (including attorney fees) arising out of my child’s/ward’s participation which do not arise out of the negligent acts or omissions of an officer, employee, or agent of the American Boer Goat Association and/or Board of Directors while acting within the scope of their employment or agency.
5. I understand that the ABGA and JABGA may take photographs and/or videos of Directors. I agree the ABGA and JABGA shall be the owner of and may use such photographs and/or videos relating to the promotion of the JABGA. I relinquish all rights that I may claim relation to the use of said photographs and/or videos.
6. I also authorize the release of my child’s/ward’s name, state of residence, email address and area of representation for the promotion of the JABGA.

It is my understanding this information will be retained in the files of the Corporation and will be available for review by members, prospective members, and others who inquire. I further understand that this information may be shared with the Corporation’s legal counsel. We also understand that infraction(s) of the Code may cause loss of privileges during the event, participation in the event to be terminated, or if sufficiently serious, termination of membership in the JABGA.
