• 2023 APPLICATION FOR CONCESSION VENDORS

    Thank you for your interest in the Callingwood Farmers’ Market. This year, the market will run on Sundays from May 7-October 8 (10am-3pm). 

    Before submitting your application, please ensure you have read and comply with Alberta Health Services' guidelines on Mobile Food Vending Units. In order to be a concession vendor at the Callingwood Farmers' Market, you must:

    • Have a food handling permit to be displayed on the mobile unit in a visible location
    • Have an identifying decal affixed to the mobile unit in a visible location
    • Run your business out of an approved base of operation (depending on the type of food vending unit you have)

  • ABOUT YOUR MOBILE UNIT & PRODUCTS

  • Type A - Sells pre-packaged foods, pre-prepared low-risk drinks that are dispensed through a tap or spout from a sealed container 

    • Type A mobile units dispensing drinks as described must have an approved base of operation to prepare the drinks and for equipment cleaning

    Type B - Sells pre-packaged foods, low-risk foods requiring minimal handling (i.e. popcorn), low-risk beverages, dispensed soft serve ice cream, gelato, medium risk pre-made beverages (i.e. dairy) and mixed coffee-based drinks

    • Minimal handling of medium risk foods using only limited utensils and equipment, restricted to heating, hot holding and portioning, such as hot dogs
    • Must operate from an appropriate base of operation and carry sufficient additional service utensils to meet the needs of the operational period.
    • Any additional handling or preparation must occur at an approved base of operation, or another AHS approved facility

    Type D - Sells low and medium risk foods prepared with minimal to intermediate handling using limited equipment and utensils, such as fries, sandwiches, drinks blended onsite, batter mixed onsite

    • Raw meat cannot be prepared
    • Does not require an approved base of operation

    Type E - Operates independent of any approved base of operation and is approved for minimal to extensive food handling of any type of food

    • Has appropriate equipment (including dishwashing) for the type of food served (equipment requirements are equivalent to that of a permanent food establishment)

    Type F - Sells primal cuts of meat, whole fish or seafood

  • MARKET DATES & PAYMENT DETAILS 

  • RATES FOR CONCESSION VENDORS:

    For vendors who pay for the season - $1,512.00 + gst                             
    (payment due before May 1, 2023) 

    For vendors who pay monthly - $63/market + gst                                     
    (payment due before the end of the previous month)* 

    For vendors who pay weekly - $70/market + gst                                     
    (payment due 7 days before the scheduled market)

    *Must commit to a minimum of 2 markets/month

  • REQUIRED BY ALL VENDORS:

    All vendors are required to carry and submit a copy of their own liability insurance (minimum $1 Million CGL). Vendors are not covered under the Callingwood Farmers’ Market group policy. Vendors may go through their own provider or become a member of the Alberta Farmers' Market Association and get a special rate with Western Financial Group. Vendors taking part in a limited number of markets may wish to consider Duuo Insurance as they offer daily rates.

    Concession vendors must operate from an approved commercial facility and hold a valid food handling permit issued by Alberta Health Services.

  • All vendors are required to read the following Callingwood Farmers' Market Regulations, and sign below to indicate the understanding, acceptance and agreement to cooperate with these regulations. Failure to comply may result in the forfeiture of a vendor's participation in the Farmers’ Market.
