Dog Surrender Request
Dog Surrender Process – Pennington County Humane Society operates under a managed admission policy, which means we accept animals by appointment only and based on space availability. Please note that submitting a surrender request form does not guarantee we can take in your pet. Each request is carefully reviewed by our team, and if space is available, we will reach out to schedule an intake appointment and complete the surrender process. Due to an unprecedented number of surrender requests this year, we are working hard to prioritize urgent and high-need cases to ensure the best care for each animal. Surrender fees are based on income to help make this service accessible while supporting our shelter operations.
Pennington County Humane Society does not have the resources to pick up said animal/s. You would need to bring the animals to our facility. Can you transport the surrendered animals to our facility?

Tell us what brings this dog joy! What toys do they love (tennis balls, squeaky toys, puzzle feeders)? Do they enjoy fetch, tug-of-war, car rides, swimming, or curling up on the couch? Are there any favorite treats that get their tail wagging—peanut butter, cheese, ice cubes, jerky, or anything else? The more we know about what makes them happy, the better we can help them settle into a new home that feels just right.
*
We know every dog has their quirks. Please let us know about any challenges you've experienced or fears your dog may have. Examples: chewing household items, jumping on people or counters, separation anxiety, food guarding, fear of storms, loud noises, strangers, or being left alone. Understanding these behaviors helps us place your dog in a home that’s prepared to support them—and maybe even love them all the more for it.
